its not bashing any one particular leader guys. all this bout its against bush or obama is absolutely wrong because this is a christian band and they wouldn't write a song like that in the first place.
to me, the song is talking about just things that are wrong with America, well kinda anyways. We elect our leaders but then don't follow them after they've been elected. I think the key reason that we even have a president is because people want someone to blame for all the wrongs that are happening to this country. You can blame whoever you want but when it comes down to it, our leaders in office do the best they can the only way they can, and people are never going to be happy with it. (this is why i hate politics with a passion)
also, it says my television tells me to panic but i don't think ill listen. I think this is very true. the news, the media, all of it tries to get you to fear everything. it makes the world seem a whole lot more dangerous and cruel than it actually is. instead of telling about a lot of the good events, they focus the majority on the bad doings in America and make it seem like everyone and everything is going evil. The media works to turn us against our leaders (usually unless they're democratic). pretty much this is just a backwards nation and thats kinda what i get from it. |

Hogie Honey, sorry but i have to disagree on one aspect. claiming your band is Christian is absolutely possitively not an easy way to get wide exposure.. if anything it makes it so much harder when your trying to make it. i would know im in one, and i know quite a few christian bands. whereas some bands who aren't christian can be liked by everyone (christian or not), christian bands a lot of the times aren't liked by many non christians, so its less of a demand for their music |

dude crookedspoons666, think bout what you said man.. just cuz it has a biblical reference doesn't make it about God, dude anything taken out of the bible has to do with God, it's His words, He spoke thru the people that wrote it and it became the bible. but ok, ill even argue your point for a second, its about being in love. two things come to mind.. 1) if its about being in love, then its about being in love with God. i agree it could be about a relationship, but you have to look at the words in the song and everthing about it, so ya its about a relationship, but a relationship with Him. 2)its about love, God created love, God is love, so if its talking about love, and God is love, then the song is bout God, lol. i really dont care if you agree or not but its the plain and simple facts, God bless all |

wow dude lol thats pretty funny considering several things.. the first being that if you kno anything at all about maylene its that first and foremost they are a christian band.. they tell people they are a christian band.. their music sells at christian stores.. the screamer/writer and the dude that put the band together is a christian.. at their shows they talk about jesus christ.. their lyrics have strong religious views.. add all those things up.. YOU HAVE A CHRISTIAN BAND!!! lol i think its so funny when people act like they know what they are talking about.. especially to a bunch of christians who listen to and follow this band..
as to the im pretty positive a christian band wouldn't run heavin in "unsaven" (is that a word) people.. dude how do you think that most people come to kno christ in the first place? ya being a christian is about having a relationship with Him.. but every single person on the face of the earth is selfish.. thinks about their owns selves first and foremost.. so when a lot of people get saved its because of the heaven part.. the relationship with christ comes after you are saved but heaven is what draws a lot of people to become saved.. and one more thing..

i think the meaning to the song is pretty obvious.. its about begging forgiveness from God for the sin and the filth in his life.. you can pretty much tell that by what jeremy is singing at the end ( i think in most of their songs whenever jeremy sings thats the main message and the central point of the whole meaning of the song.. i could be wrong but it would make sense because if you don't read the lyrics then a lot of the time you can't understand mike when he screams.. unless you've listened to them for forever and can understand him.. i can sometimes but not everything..) but ya it talks about asking for forgiveness for his sins.. and mainly i think,,, sins that are directly against God.. betrayal.. denial.. thats just my opinion.. i love this song and this band.. by far one of the greatest things to ever happen to the christian metal industry |

i don't think its talkin about starting a christian metal band and falling away from Christ.. because to me if that was the case then i don't think they would be together anymore.. if they were struggling with staying close to God because of their band i don't think they would sing about it.. i think they would be ashamed about it.. thats just my opinion i could be wrong.. i just kno the song rocks :)
lol i didn't start listening to august burns red til a couple of weeks ago.. i had a friend put both of their cds on my ipod and when i was goin thru i heard this song and was like hey this might be my favorite song.. then i looked at the name of the song.. black sheep.. lol that just so happens to be one of the names of my band's songs.. ours is talking about how christians are the black sheeps of the crowd.. how we're supposed to stand out from the others.. lol but i thought that was funny.. anyways God bless all |

hahaha i think that the most awesome part of this song.. gettin past the halo and the awesome music (does anyone else notice that a lot of their music sounds the same btw?) is that this is in fact a christian band. i love that!! its freakin awesome!! songs like this make people realize that christianity isn't just a life of being boring i think. if you ever listen to the song game on by disciple thats talking about defending those closest to you at all costs.. including and more of what the song is talking about fighting.. and its a christian band!! lol i love it.. dude.. adventtraceur.. you nailed it man!! lol i saw that and was like bam there it is lol but ya saying that a non christian person can't listen to a christian band is a very hypocritical thing for a "christian" to say. dude anyone that claims to be a christian any says that has got some major issues to work out with God.. the point and focus of bands like TDWP is to reach lost souls.. they are a battlefront band.. if your a christian screamo band then your purpose is to do what the bible says; to go forth and make disciples among all the nations. i think it is amazing that non christians can listen to bands like this and love them for their music, because thats exactly what its all about in this music ministry that they have going. and like i said.. i completely agree with adventtraceur on him saying the reason that they love it and have such a connection with this music is because it has the holy spirit in it and there is a connection with God that they don't kno.. thats why there's so much satisfaction in listening to this band.. I love this band!!! i seriously listen to them every single day.. both cds and it never ever gets old. oh and to anyone reading this.. if you haven't seen them live.. YOU HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING!! they are better live then they are on cd.. by far.. and the cd is amazing!! so ya as soon as they are in town go and see them!!

i say adtr in concert with the devil wears prada and silverstein and they are amazing!!! i love every song on their cd!!
but to me.. and i've talked about this to a couple of people.. this song isn't necesairly against religion.. its against the people in their religion.. more specifically the hypocrites in religion. i hate using the word religion so i'll go ahead and say its talkin about the fakers and hypocrites in christianity. do not get me wrong.. i am a very strong believer and i try to put God first in my life, but this song talks about the thing about my faith and about christianity that i can't stand more then anything.. and thats people who give christians bad names. i think that tyanidexduder nailed it. he doesn't say that there isn't a God.. he is saying the reason that he doesn't have religion is because of God's followers, and again not all His followers just the ones that give us a bad name. any christian who looks down on others, or says stupid stuff like if you watch harry potter then u don't believe in God, or tells anyone how to live their life, or puts themselves up on petistools like they are the most amazing thing in the world because they are a christian and that makes them better then others.. any christian with that type of attitude is exactly what he is singing against and i completely agree with him. CHRISTIANS GIVE CHRISTIANS BAD NAMES. again, i am a firm believer, i am a huge christian, but i am also sick of fakers and hypocrites scaring people off because other people see how they act and decide not to have anything to do with my faith. i do not judge anyone that is not a christian, i do wish that everyone was or would at least try it because it is amazing and there is no other satisfaction you can have then the satisfaction with Christ, but if you decide not to be a christian, hey man thats your decision and thats cool.. i am not going to judge you for it like a lot of other christians would. plus you cant bring people in when you shun them away for not believing in the first place. but anyways.. thats my thoughts on the song.. didn't mean to turn it into a sermon haha.
