Fucked Up – Vivian Girls Lyrics 16 years ago
In order to understand these lyrics, one must understand the source material. Read up, kiddos: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Darger#In_the_Realms_of_the_Unreal
Seriously, once you understand what Darger is all about, it's pretty easy to deconstruct the narrative of this song.

Also, George Pettit's vocals on this track slay. This whole track slays. This whole album slays.

I think I read somewhere that Damien and Mike wrote this song kind of as a joke, as the lyrics are pretty much nonsensical. Taking your hardest, most exciting riff, and punking your fans by writing shitty lyrics... that's just awesome.

Fucked Up – Baiting the Public Lyrics 16 years ago
This is the best Fucked Up song, and I think it's disappointing that no one wants to comment on it. These lyrics are filled with errors, which is also disappointing. Part of the beauty of this song is that it's so lyrically simple. And, while it was originally released as a 7" single, its placement on Hidden World is so fucking perfect it's amazing. After the classical string closing of Carried Out To Sea, this song bursts forward with such ferocity that it's hard not to feel the anti-social anger Pink Eyes spews into your ears. Aural beauty...

Fucked Up – Year of the Pig Lyrics 17 years ago
It can't be a Pastiche of a single artist. The term pastiche is used to define a work of art that is directly influenced by (re: uses the voice of) many different artists. YoTP might be a pastiche of 60's psychedelia, or it might be a parody of Pink Floyd. Fredric Jameson gives a wonderful definition of pastiche in "Postmodernism, or, the Cultural Logic of Late Capitalism" that might help you understand the term better.

Also, song is definitely about the Robert Pickton trial.
