Cherry Poppin Daddies – Here Comes The Snake Lyrics 17 years ago
To me, this song is about sex with the devil. Obviously, it starts off with penis references.

"Here comes the snake and he circles your leg He's come to play and make your body parts shake."

"It'll feel so good when he gives it his all"

But, as Skibz pointed out, it's a little out there ot just be about this guy's manhoood. Here's where the devil comes into play...

"He's like a jail and you need an escape.
Want you to come get a file in your cake."

God and all his rules, like jail. The devil doesn't have those rules, he can break you free. He wants you on his side. He'll sex you to show you how much more fun his side would be, the file in the cake, also the "file" is a phallic reference to the feminine "cake".

"I know he did you wrong and I'm here to give ya what you wanted all along."

Let's face it. God let's you down. He's this great guy, that's there for you....but why do you feel so all alone, why so much strife? That doesn't sound like the good guy....but the devil, that trickster, is all about relieving you with sin, fufilling the urges that drive you. To give what you wanted all along, is freedom and ecstacy in the form of instant gratification, implying you don't need to wait for heaven to feel good. He'll make you feel good right NOW.

"Yes, I believe but I'd rather not pray
What I believe in I'd rather not say baby"

There is belief, but the "praying" is either unecessary because the devil doesn't care baout being prayed to, he just wants stuff done. Or perhaps praying open to the devil only leads to trouble. He's also baiting you with mystery. "I'd rather not say....." Because any person is tempted to investigate after such a gauntlet is thrown.

"Did your God show you the door
Well, I'm here to eat your apple to the core
Here comes the snake "

Again, a reference that the good guy left you holding the bag while he was doing something more valiant that using his omnipotence to save you. Not now, Daddy's busy. Right? A lapse in faith occurs, and here comes the snake, as the devil appeared to Eve and tempted her with the apple, which was eventually....eaten to the core. He made it inside you, both physically and spiritually. But, how you feel about that is up to you....

P.S. I'm not on either side, this is just how I see the song. Very cool.

Lola Ray – One By One Lyrics 17 years ago
Frankly, it reminds me of zombies.

"One by one you can hear them collect.
They don't want to make peace with you.
What did you expect?"
Zombies often start of individually, then others join the party. Often when you are in a building and you look out the window periodically, a flesh mongering crowd will slowly but surely assemble as time goes on. They don't want to make peace with you, because they can't. The dead don't make deals when they're brain dead and hungry for flesh. What did you expect?

"Cause hunger feeds what anger breeds
When you’re not sure what people believe in
Bring it on, son show your guns
This is no time to be sentimental"
If anyone remembers "28 Days Later", the "zombies" were created by a rage virus, but that's a little too sepcific. I just thought I would mention it. You're not sure what to believe in because, your rational mind tells you zombies cannot posisbly exist. Show your guns is clearly telling you how to temporarily remedy the issue. SHOOT THEM IN THE HEAD! There's not time to be sentimental. If you knew the person who is now a zombie. Too bad, they will eat you if you don't neutralize them.

"Leave your fears in the dark."
Night is the best time if you have to travel during a zombie outbreak. They have poor eyesight, because they're freakin' dead.

"As quick as the fever burns, addiction spreads
Hatred flows through the veins of your dead"
Another 28 Days Later type reference. Outside of that, there is the fact that once bitten by a zombie, you will become quite ill and eventually pass on and come back as a ghoul with the need to feed, an "addiction" if you will to living flesh/brains. And it even has a specific line about the dead. See?

"What the television doesn’t say
I don’t wanna believe in leavin"
People are notorious for ignoring the news right before an attack. People biting strangers, shuffling gaits, sudden high death tolls, execution style killings....all signs of zombies. Once people start seeing what's going on, broadcasts are usually given by anchors trapped in the studios urging people to "stay indoors. do not attempt to rescue loved ones" until the stations go off the air.

"Lost, we traveled the week
A mess to make it right"
This last bit talks about the near end, often quarantine, assuming it wasn't a full scale, worldwide
outbreak. People moving from hidden place to place to survive without being accosted by the undead. "A mess to make it right". Quarantine and Destruction. Seal off the area and destroy, then make a cover story.

Sound crazy, right? Well, when your biggest irrational fear is zombies....this song is amazing.

P.S. I am fully aware zombie do not exist....currently.
