i'm obsessed with the acoustic version of this song. and when i first heard it, i thought it was about a girl, but after listening to it on repeat for a while, i started thinking the lyrics sounded more like he was describing a drug, even though he's addressing it like it's a person. |

oh my god this is seriously like my favourite song, ever. i pretty much cry every time i hear it. anyway, i can totally identify with it as my exboyfriend lived mileeees away and it was awful, like, heart breaking. a bit that gives me shivers is; "i'll bet he gets the nerve to walk the floor and ask my girl to dance, she'll say yes." i'm like NOOO KATIE, DON'T SAY YES :'[ ALSO, this bit; "this'll be the first time in a week that i'll talk to you and i can't speak it's been three whole days since i've had sleep cos i dream of his lips on your cheek and i get the point that i should leave you alone but we both know that i'm not that strong..." I SO get that. It's like, you spend all your time picturing what you're going to say to this person, and thinking about what you want to say to them and when you actually get to talk to them your mind goes blank and you forget everything. And later you're like ohmygah, what's wrong with me. Also, the thought of being helpless and unable to stop other guys from being with the girl he loves, because she lives so far away. and that he should stay away from her, because its too hard to be so far from each other, but he just doesnt want to live without her, hes not strong enough to willfully stay away from her... i love it, so much. |

okay, i basically think this is about a guy who's been hurt so many times that he barely even feels the pain any more, or he's expecting it; "the lightning hits my chest, but the shock is so routine for me these days" he can feel the pain, but he locks it away in the back of his head and doesn't show it. "i can feel the misery, from some place deep inside of me" and he's obviously depressed/suicidal when he says stuff like "the cliff's edge calls me". he's looking for someone to do ANYTHING to save his life, from spiralling down further into depression; "you make my bed, i'll make your day, i'll write down every word you say" - he'll do anything for the person who shows they care, even a little bit. anywho, i love this song, the beat contrasts so well with the lyrics, it's amazing ^_^ |
