Now that I think about it, Lord of the Flies very much seems to be the basis of this song, Take these lyrics: "And turning all against one Is an art that's hard to teach Another clever word Sets off an unsuspecting herd And as you step back in the line A mob jumps to their feet" Jack turned all of the boys against Ralph over the course of the book. One clever word that helped him gain his "herd" would be "beast", something he promised to protect them from. Also, consider this: "There's someone in your way And now someone is gonna pay If you can't get what you want Well it's all because of me" Obviously, the song is narrated by Ralph. Ralph realizes here that Jack considers him the catalyst of their problems and he wants to kill him. Oh, and obviously, "Hit 'em right between the eyes" refers to Piggy and "No more alibis, Lord of the Flies" is about as specific as you'll get. I didn't actually like the song too much before, but now that I know this, it is much more interesting for me. |
