I dont know how accurate this interpretation is but it's my own. The song seems to my like the recollection of a past falling out between a couple, repeatedly going back and forth between the good times and the bad. "Eating snowflakes with plastic forks And a paper plate of course, you think of everything" is something referring to the beginning of the relationship, I suppose. Looking back on a time when everything was simpler. "Short love with a long divorce" of course refers to how the couple were only together for a short amount of time, and it still bothers them to this day, even though the love existed a very long time ago. "A couple of kids" can be seen as anything good that came out of the relationship, yet the couple can't see the positive aspects and of course the good "means nothing" "Live in trailers with no class Goddamn, I hope I can pass..." This refers to the boy, who apparently lives in a trailer. I see it as the girl maybe saw him as nothing more than trailer trash, and of course this hurt the boy. Maybe this is what caused the dilemma. "high school means nothing" No matter how much he tries, the boy can't get the girl off his mind. "taking heartache with hard work" the boy tries to forget his troubles by working a lot. "Goddamn, I am such a jerk, I can't do anything" But he realizes that maybe he was wrong "And I shout that you're all fake And you should have seen the look on your face" The boy confronts the girl, talking about how she's changed and she's not as good of a person that she used to be when he was in love with her. "And it's been a long time Which agrees with this watch of mine And I guess that I miss you, and I'm sorry If I dissed you" He realizes that he doesn't really care/remember what they were arguing about. In the end he decides that the girl was never really worth all the stress to begin with, but also doesn't care enough to hold a grudge. So he just apologizes and goes on about his business. |
