i read an article about gch that said travvy wrote this song about his cousin who committed suicide. the thing i love most about this song is how honest it is. i think no matter who it's about the fact that it's pretty straightfoward being about suicide is really cool, like how he's not afraid to let people know exactly what's going through his mind, no matter how bad it is. this may just be because i love them and think most stuff they do is genius, though, haha. and i love cream247's explanation, too. there's something about it that's really eloquent. |

love this song....kind of confusing about the whole meaning, at least to me. my best guess is two people who broke up (she cheated?) and he's saying he's angry at her for lying and being basically a whore and that they're ending things on bad terms. |

at first i thought this was just a cute song about a guy with his girlfriend and their relationship, but when i saw them john oh said it was about sex...you can definitely see it looking at the lyrics. the part where it says she called him and said "tell me that you love me, and it'll be all right" makes me think that maybe it was a one night stand and she wants him to say he loves her so she can forgive herself for it. a lot of it still makes me think that it's about something more than sex, though. |

for some reason i think of a dictator or king when i hear this song....in the first verse its like they lose their heads or their ability to think for themselves. "the men all play along to marching drums" means that everyone cooperates whether or not they agree with what they're being told to do but they accept it and enjoy it anyway because they believe they're not powerful enough to make a difference. In the second verse they toast the powerful rulers while they continue to give them only what they can spare in excess. When he says "those watermelon smiles just can't ripen underwater" i think it means that they are trapped in circumstances where they are not able to progress. |
