Incubus – Leech Lyrics 17 years ago
Are we trying a little too hard? The 'leech' in this song is someone who likes to hang around and sponge off of everyone else. 'its easy to get HIGH when youre standing on our backs' is just a clever pun. If you stand on someones back you are higher up than you were before but it could also mean that the 'leech' is getting high on someone's stash. If you start cutting out lines of blow its pretty rude to leave someone out so if the 'leech' just happens to be there when the lines were cut, he's bound to get one himself, hence the 'take another hit-steal another line'-line. When the 'leech' is good and high he has no more reason to be there so he takes off-'have you ever meet a leech who's good at goodbye?'. When Brandon talks about 'sharing spit' it has nothing to do with his sexuality. There are many things this line could mean, the obvious being the smoking and passing of a joint/bowl/bong exc... This song is about someone who likes to hang around JUST to get high and not because he likes the company. Those kind of people suck (I know a few of them) But the most clever thing about this song (and most of Brandon's lyrics) is how they transcend the obvious to make larger and more profound statement. Anyone who makes a habit of being in the right place at the right time could be called a leech.

Bush – Comedown Lyrics 17 years ago
I didnt read all the responces but it is hard for me to ignore all the drug references in 'Comedown'. Besides the title of the song there is also that little part in the middle where Gavin sings 'shoot up-shoot up-shoot up-your high!' I think this song is about a love/hate relationship w/ heroin. As is the case with most addictions (drugs, sex, love... exc), at first it's great but we always have to comedown. The line 'who was there to take your place?' seems pretty telling. This song uses mataphores to convey it's message; it could be a song about love that uses drug metaphores or a drug song that uses love metaphores. Either way, I LOVE this song. This song and Greedy Fly are my two favs. BUSH ROCKS!

Bush – Bomb Lyrics 17 years ago
The end of this song (the last four lines) are f'n great! I get chills when I hear it. Any good song should make you feel something, anything, and the end (well all) of this song creates a huge emotional ride. It builds and builds until it blows up... 'Bomb' is a very fitting title to this song.

Bush – Body Lyrics 17 years ago
I love Bush and this song! To me it sounds like this song is written about a 'fast' or 'loose' partner. Maybe the woman it was created for had several partners and the man is torn because, although he feels very strongly about her, he knows she will never be his alone. Lines such as "wash US all away-body never lies" "will you come again-will we stay friends" make me think of an affair and/or secret 'friend w/ benifits'. The line "will she come again" could have two meanings, the obvious sexual inuendo, and, simply, 'will she come again?'. This is a very powerful song (like a good number of other Bush songs). One of the best things about Gavin's lyrics is that they can seem vague and clear at the same time. It has been said many times before but the most wonderful thing about lyrics is that everybody can take their own meaning(s) from them and Gavin was a master of this art. His lyrics can be just vague enough to mean many things to many people. I love it.
