i completely agree, this is an awesome song, the only thing is that i don't really know what its all about. my guess is that its something about being a teen and being in love, making mistakes and learning from them, etc. etc. anyone else? |

this song is what i have been waiting for. it is absolutely perfect and the exact song that to me is the 'ideal song'--now its practically become my anthem. the only this is i thought it said 'who would have thought i'd meet you here' ? just what the lyric sounded like to me. as for the meaning, its a reunion between two lovers who called it quits and they coincidentally run into each other and a whole bunch of emotions come running back for the both of them. |

love this song....LOVE this band. they remind me of MGMT a bit except not as obscure. i think it just means that this 'guy' is going to do whatever for this 'girl', hence the 'i promise--im on it'. he would do anything for her and going to paris might be included in that or paris might just represent all the things he wants to do for her |

i absolutely love this song. it is so beautiful and mystical. the music video for it is also great and sort of dreamy too. it makes me think of dreams and how maybe these two people had dreams for each other but it just couldn't work out for some reason... |

this is the first song i ever heard by stars and i have been in love with their music ever since. im not too sure on the meaning though--maybe the point is that there could be so so many meanings? what i gathered was that this is a girl who keeps everyting to herself "but the worst stays in" and she doesn't know how to love and is maybe too scared to be that vulnerable to she just shies (sp?) away from it. when torq says pretty much the same lines back to her i think it could suggest a connection between their two "characters" in the song? he is singing to her but she is just singing to the elevator and thinking to herself that all she wants to do is go home ... but she has no idea that there is this guy out there who loves her from afar....beautiful and heart-wrenching whatever the meaning(s) is/are . |

"so tomorrow there will be another number"
i think that opening line sums up a major part of the song's theme, save for some minor details. i think it is about the war and situation going on in the middle east an the "other number" alludes to the growing casualty count. sad but yet they seem to make it into a beautiful song...precisely why i love stars . |

haha simmy2k6.
i love this song for a lot of reasons, also sort of because its what my guy "friend" used to tell me all the time. we ended up having a big falling out too so i can relate to this song and listening to it has given me a bit of perspective to his side . |

although i couldnt find the correct lyrics for this song (even when i checked on their website) i think i still got the jist of it. i think the song is about a guy and a girl (although its sorta unclear if they are in a relationship or not) and the guy is trying to be patient with this girl and it seems she has made her fair share of mistakes but this guy is still staying by her side even though it is hard for him. it would seem that this guy is frustrated with her but in a cute kind of "i still love you anyway" (did i just answer my own question here? maybe they are in a relationship). any other ideas? its a cute song though , and this band seems pretty solid. they've sort of got a vampire weekend/the kooks sound. good job guys. |

i agree with jbee and although i couldn't read all the posts , i agree with what i did read. this is such a beautiful, immense song. fav lyrics:
"i know i should have given you a reason to stay, given you a reason to staaayyy..." & of course:
"this is fact not fiction, for the first time in years"
there's nothing else quite like those words right there. |

first off, this song is amazing. the layering of all the different instruments is genious. everytime i listen to this song, im pretty sure i hear another instrument being played...brilliant..
as for the meaning, i believe it is talking about some sort of revolution--possibly the french revolution? but i also think that he is referring to a failed relationship? the lyric: "And I discovered that my castles stand/Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand" to me sort of meant that he thought that what he had (his relationship) was sturdy, but now he sees that everything he knew was falling (his pillars = his relationship was built on sand , sand=falling) ..just an idea . . . |
