Stone Sour – Choose Lyrics 16 years ago
To me this is about how people/the society ("All things considered, it was just our normal way of life") tries to make everybody to be this pathetic shell of a human that doesn't think for him-/her-self just follows the way you are supposed to be, instead of having your own soul.

And if you are yourself and express your opinions and feelings that doesn't match what the society expects you are judged and convicted as freak/weirdo/deviant. I'm guessing a lot of people (including Corey) liking this kind of music (especially slipknot and the likes) have experienced this first hand "Why do you listen to that shit" and so forth, they try to extinguish your soul ("Behind the door, you have two choices, but you don't get to choose, You can survive or you can die - either way you lose" to me is, you can sell your soul (die) or keep it and take the shit you'll get expressing it (survive, but you'll suffer, i.e. loose)).

Corey, professes that he can't betray himself, i.e. sell his soul, and will take the punishment for it. And asks the listener to choose sides.

Stone Sour – Inhale Lyrics 16 years ago
I just don't get why all lyrically deep songs to some people are about drugs. I'm guessing that when the lyrics are sbout intra-personal problems the people who have drug-addictions have their monster pretty much in the drugs.

This song to me is about a person who just lost his will to live, he really don't even want to breathe, and just tells himself to try to take another breath, and hope the darkness encompassing his life will get better. And the thing that things won't get better before he TRIES, other people's comments just don't reach him. Whatever caused the darkness in his life is irrelevant (most good artist write lyrics in a powerful yet vague way so that each and everyone can relate to it in their own way), it may be depression, mental illness or drugs, alcohol (both of which causes depressions, or are taken to "cure" the depression because they don't know why they feel like sh*t) or being homeless, all these things make a man loose his will to live, and you just have to try to get it together again, as sitting and waiting for it do get better is doomed do fail.

Metallica – The Day That Never Comes Lyrics 17 years ago
My interpretation of the song is as knighthawk127 says, a abusive relationship. Doesn't have to be a romantic relationship but a relation of any kind where someone is a bully, and the the hate the bullied starts to grow when he/she is oppressed and beaten. As the lyrics says the beaten never seem to be able to to reach out and feel the warmth of real love, the hate grows and he/she thinks of revenge but the day when it'll happen never comes, as most people in abusive relationships never does take the stand, they just take the beating and hope it'll end (on the day that never comes).

And now I understand what Hetfield meant when he said that he didn't want the song to be interpreted as being only about the Iraq war. As the video is made by a director who's interpretation is expressed in the video.

I think the song is great, the lyrics can be interpreted in many ways as great lyrics should be. And Hetfield again proves his skills at writing great lyrics and great riffs. And of course the other guys did a great job on this. Death Magnetic looks like it'll be a GREAT album :).
