ooooook so i went see atl on tuesday and alex explained what it was about it is about a guy who goes off to war and dies in battle. His spirit is then searching for this girl and he goes to "familiar" places to find her but as time has moved on she has moved away or died herself as the neighbors become "unfamiliar faces". This is why the clouds follow him around as he is in the clouds. |

OK so this song has been ruling my life for weeks!!! "He woke up from dreaming and put on his shoes Started making his way past Two in the morning He hasn't been sober for days" he starts off waking up dreaming of the girl and it seems like his life has become a routine of looking for her by "putting on his shoes then making his way past 2 in the morning" as he looks for her. When he has spent all day looking for her he turns to drink to probably numb the pain of her not being there so "hasn't been sober for days" "Leaning now into the breeze Remembering Sunday, he falls to his knees They had breakfast together But two eggs don't last Like the feeling of what he needs" whilst walking he feels the breeze and remembers sunday when they had breakfast pretty obv. It seems like the time they spent wasn't enough for him as he needs more, maybe it means this is why he turns to alcohol and the "eggs" or memory aren't enough. "Now this place seems familiar to him She pulled on his hand with a devilish grin She led him upstairs She led him upstairs Left him dying to get in" from walking around so much he comes to a place he has been before with her where she teased him as he wanted to make love to her. Some may say that this implies a one night stand then he just obsessed over this girl as she has disappeared. They're filling his gut" here i think she has told him that she doesn't want a relationship but he's determined to make her fall in love with him, he doesn't understand how she can't feel the same and deny the butterflies. "Waking the neighbors, unfamiliar faces He pleads though he tries But he's only denied Now he's dying to get inside" it seems that he has been searching for her for so long that new people have moved into the area and so the faces are unfamiliar. I think where he's denied is maybe where he is trying to get in where she used to live so he is "dying to get inside". "The neighbors said she moved away" obv because she has moved away "Funny how it rained all day" now this bit i think is linked with "Now the rain is just washing you out of my hair" "I didn't think much of it then" But it's starting to all make sense Oh, I can see now that all of these clouds Are following me in my desperate endeavor To find my whoever, wherever she may be" i think if the girl actually did die then this is why the clouds are following him and he didn't understand why at first but now he does. she then says "I'm not coming back (Forgive me) I've done something so terrible" which is maybe killed herself "I'm terrified to speak (I'm not calling, I'm not calling) But you'd expect that from me" she hasn't called but doesn't expect him to be supirised that she hasn't "I'm mixed up, I'll be blunt (You're driving me crazy)" she's telling him why maybe she didn't let him in as she is mixed up in the head "Now the rain is just washing you out of my hair" i think this is the guy saying this as know he knows and the clouds have been following him because it was her following him in the clouds. "And out of my mind Keeping an eye on the world" this is her watching him "From so many thousands of feet off the ground" from heaven "I'm over you now I'm at home in the clouds, towering over your head" obv because she's in heaven then he goes home because now he knows |

OK here's my interpretation "I was your fire once You thought of me as your one true love" this shows how "Parker" once thought of her has his only one and he's now telling her that this isn't the case anymore as she goes onto say "I got so mad and said things that later I would Regret and regret and regret" she said things that she is going to regret because he's telling her what she doesn't want to hear "Holding onto my chest and pounding 'til it turns purple A breaking bow and the sound of a scream muffled by pillows" this shows how she is trying to deal with the pain of her not loving him like punching her chest and screaming into a pillow to release the pain and anger "So don't so long and don't farewell Hear me out now, I've just begun to say" then she want him to hear her out so she's saying don't say goodbye just yet and says "Parker, do you remember How I carried your heart And I carried it far? And I know that there's no one to blame It's a sure given shame Of my own that you don't remember" remember the love that they had, remember how she was so in love she carried his heart and love round with her and she says there's no on else to blame but herself for letting herself get s far in love as she did. also "From letters I re-write explaining how to fall in love" shows how bad she wants him to love her as she's explaining how to do it and re-writing as he doesn't fall in love from them and i think "I'm naked once so don't think twice" shows how she put her self out there the first time she fell in love so wont do it again |
