In my opinion this has to be the most powerful heavy song on the album... It blows me away and I get chills at the end when I really listen to it. Spencer Chamberlain is such an awesome guy, has such a heart after God. it so killer. And he is so real about living Christ like and clearly putting to death the deeds, desires, and lusts of the body, and instead putting in its place a love and a hunger for God. The last three words... This Is Defeat ....pretty much sum up a huge rock solid theological biblical truth all in its own. Strenuously.. Underoath completely gets and understands Total Depravity. The fact that all human beings are fallen, we don’t have victory on our own, and our only hope is Christ!... |

This song is amazing! I think it is clearly talking about something on the lines of someone grasping onto their faith in God, but this messed up corrupt world attacking it in every way possible, and them loosing slight grip in a sense. but at the end realizing the people attacking are wrong and hold no truth themselves. It describes their hopelessness as: "They just spin in perfect little circles And that’s all they know" perfect description of Atheists honestly!... |
