To me, it's about being bored with your life. Doing the same things over and over again and not having anything exciting happening. It's about wanting to change and just being better than you are at some point. You have a choice to change your life for the better. Make it more exciting or make it into whatever you want. No one can turn your life around but you. I think everyone can relate to this song at some point in their life. It's an amazing song. Just like everything Bruce sings. |

| I grew up listening to Tom Petty and this is definitely one of my favorites. Everytime i hear one of his songs i always remember when i was younger and singing this song. It doesn't neccessarily matter if you know the meaning of his songs or not. It just matters what the songs mean to you. Your meaning of the song doesn't have to be right or wrong and it definitely doesn't have to be the same as someone else's. | |

Well getting past the title of the song and how offended or not offended people are by it, to me it sounds like she's talking about Pete Wentz. "Wishing you were in the rain reading Hemingway" - Pete named one of his dogs Hemingway. "You don’t eat meat"- He used to be vegan and then swicted to vegetarian, now he is neither. "I can’t believe I fell in love with someone that wears more makeup than…"- He is known to wear guyliner. "You’re so gay and you don’t even like boys"- He has said that he's "pretty much half gay." I haven't heard that Pete and Katy have dated before or if it is about him or not but he was the first person that popped into my head when i heard this song. |
