I see this as being a total Romeo and Juliet based song. They express their love for eachother during night where they are covered under the sheild of darkness and secrecy. "Take my hand come undercover They can't hurt you now" That line may go well with Romeo hiding from the Capulets while he got his alone time with Juliet. ;] |

i know when i started reading the whole interpretations about the book i was totally lost..... SO for the ppl who HAVEN'T read 'survivor' i'll give my thoughts.... i think the chorus starting off with 'swear to shake it up, if you swear to listen' is maybe a little more deep than it seems... to me, its saying he'll make it obvious and point it out, but only if we listen and try to change. 'we're still so young, desperate for attention' he's saying how young ppl do crazy stuff to get themselves noticed and it leads to when he says 'i aim to be your eyes' bcuz he wants the world to see the flaws that are coming into effect and he's trying to point it out. 'trophy boys, trophy wives' screams that love isn't wat it used to be, that ppl only 'love' eachother for selfish reasons such as popularity and looking good; looping back around to the meaning of the rest of the chorus.... "Applause, applause, no, wait, wait Dear studio audience, I've an announcement to make It seems the artists these days are not who you think So we'll pick back up on that on another page" im guessing that its saying that ppl CAN see that things are different and not right, but they choose to 'pick that up on another page' or ignore it.... when he sings that artists are not who you think they are, i feel he says that because everyone seems fake. finally- "Don't you see? I'm the narrator, and this is just the prologue" maybe this is saying that he's just directing and retelling the events at play, and noting that its just the beginning of futher events. ----- i dont care if my interpretation is off, again, i haven't read that book, so im going by what i think and how i see it... and honestly i think it makes sense either way... ~kika~ |

| i think it basically saying that even if she's wrong, and alone, she'll still try to not only be what/who she wants, but to be happy. Most of us can agree that happiness is not easy to find, and when she says life goes on, she seems to be pointing out that even the worst things can help you in the end, you know, make you stronger or wiser. I know im dittoing everyone else, but i know its easy to relate to, and I like taylor swifts songs because of that. | |

| I can relate to this, and probably so can so many other people. I loved this boy, and he was one of my best friends, I bent over backwards till i broke, i did things out of charachter, i did EVERYTHING he said and ignored that everyone i knew told me he was a bad choice. Well, not too long ago i sent him a email and he pulled me aside (i was there when i read it) and he said this (as accuratly as i can) "Look, im getting fucking tired of you always complaining that i'll never love you because i wont let myself... its pissing me off! Get it through your head! I'll NEVER love you!" It hurt so bad, and still does. Anyone who has been told this by someone they REALLY care about knows that its not fun. It makes you cry to the point where it hurts to breathe so sometimes you believe it would be easier just to stop breathing. I dont know what to do anymore.... he broke my heart, shattered it, then stepped on it. Now I dont even believe in love anymore, or atleast, what i thought it was... | |
