| James Morrison – You Make It Real Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's 'I'm full of arrogance and uncertainty'...not hurricanes. | |
| Tom Waits – Time Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think that the song is just talking about the importance of love. Each verse mentions people who seem bitter and have forgotten about love, are down and out in some way, life isn't the best for them. The chorus urges each of them to love again, to find that last glimmer of hope that they have lost somehow. The last verse - 'So put a candle in the window and a kiss upon his lips...' is saying not to give up on love, even if your loved one goes away you can still love them and have hope that you will be together again. Lovers are often described as flames, so if you keep a candle burning for someone (metaphorically) you don't stop loving them and live in hope that they will one day return to you. Perhaps the message of the song is also not be afraid to love. At some point you have to stop wishing and hoping and actually go after that which you love. It's time to love, to pull yourself out of the slump that you're in. | |
| Simon and Garfunkel – Kathy's Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Art Garfunkel dedicated this song to his wife Kathryn in a performance. :) Although she isn't the Kathy written about in this song, I believe it was a girlfriend of Paul's who would come along to their perfomances when they were buskers in london. I wonder where Kathy is now... | |

| Radiohead – Fog Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love this song...it has to be one of my favourite Radiohead songs...some of their best songs are b-sides. I remember when my friend first played it to me, it reminds me of him. :) | |
| Kate Walsh – Your Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Um, you got a few things wrong... Haven’t you heard I’m stuck on a verse I’m stuck on a boy who Fills me with joy I knew I was wrong to Jump straight on into This picture so pretty, But he is so pretty to me And he doesn’t know Just how far I would go Just to kiss him He doesn’t know how I pine So I make whirlpools And watch him sparkle And we’ll make love, make magic And haven’t you heard I’ve fallen head first And he loves me so We’re two in a row Just look in his eyes They’re blue as the skies are Picture so pretty, But he is so pretty to me So I’ll make whirlpools And watch him sparkle And we’ll make love, make magic But I couldn’t tell you Just how love it takes you ‘cause words don’t make What I make with him Haven’t you heard I’m stuck on a verse I’m stuck on a boy Who fills me with joy I knew I was wrong To jump straight on into This picture so pretty, But he is so pretty to me |

| Alison Krauss – When You Say Nothing At All Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I'd previously only ever heard the Ronan Keating version, which is nice, but Alison Krauss sings it beautifully. | |
| Marissa Nadler – Bird on Your Grave Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Every Marissa Nadler song is exquisitely beautiful. This song is so bittersweet, two people not together but still missing each other and keeping the memories. | |
