Hmm I don't know about the one stand scenario. It seems more like a "friends with benefits" knda thing cuz he says "is this STILL happening". I kinda picture it as an ex-girlfriend kinda thing.("of any self respect we may have had") Like they broke up, possibly some time ago, but she gets him to meet up wtb her, she gets some alcohol in him ("I think my drink is way too strong") and gets him to sleep with her but he doesn't really fight it since he's bored and lonely anyways. I kinda feel like this song goes hand in hand with Lust A Prima Vista. Also I kinda think that Nick isn't really into casual sex.(not just from this song alone but from a lot of their songs) And the line "degrade the true meaning of affection" basically embodies that. And in the song Himerus and Eros: "I hope to God I mean a lttle more than the sounds that escape your tired 4 am lips. Oh how I wish I meant a little more than the symphony of heavy breathing and the friction of hips." Ok, enough rambling! :] |

I love this song and I think I'll break it down to show my interpretation of the song. "There's a special place --- will try to sing for you.": I think he means it literally. She's constantly on his mind causing him to act all kinds of funny. "What do you say --- my nightmares would go away": Nothing but knowing she is his forever would set his mind at ease. "What do you say --- Please stay": This always reminds me of Titanic. Where the band and captain commit and devote themselves to staying with the ship. I don't think he means it in a way that is saying their relationship is "a sinking ship" but he wants her to make an eternal, forever commitment. No turning back once it "lowers into the bay" (which could read as marriage.) "The blood collects --- you are the only one who knows": Her blushed cheeks mean he clearly has an effect on her. I think "the secret garden" is just way of saying there are special things he does only for her. "I'm cutting ties --- your warm body on me": He wants to forget about everyone else. He just needs to be with her. "When the sun goes down --- holding on to me": He justs want her to stay with him forever, no matter what. (Thats my interpretation anyways. :]) |

Hmm there is kinda mixed interpretations of this song. I personally think it's about rushing through life and how everyone wants you do things quickly. he's telling the listener to "don't worry, just hurry" but he justs wants to slow down a bit but he wonders if he has "a lot to lose". At least that's I understood it. In Kenny's own words:"This is a manifestation of the feeling we get that we are not living out lives fast enough or up to our full potential. A motivational piece." |

The lyrics are basically simply stated. So there is need for much interpretation. They waited and now it's their time to make the music they choose even if people don't completely accept it. In Kenny's own words it's a: "song about taking a chance with your life and taking a stand for what you believe despite the popular contrary." |

This song is so good. It gets me every time. I agree with others in thinking this song is a message to the fans and friends. In Kenny's words the song is: "an optimistic rant about my hopes and ambitions in music and in life. The ultimate message of this song and of the record is simply 'I want you to have this and I want you to enjoy it, because this is what I love." |
