| Iron Maiden – Brighter Than a Thousand Suns Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
"We are not his chosen people now " I think this line refers to the high number of Jewish persons involved in the creation of the nuclear bomb. |
|
| Black Sabbath – Die Young Lyrics | 11 years ago |
|
The most debated first lines are the following according to my understanding: "Gather the wind, though the wind won't help you fly, it'll hurl your back to the wall. Chain the sun, and it tears away, and it'll face you as you run" Later there is i think: "Can't you see the writing on the AIR?" and... "Someone stopped the FAIR" |

| Nightwish – Wish I Had an Angel Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
This is very simple. It's about being attacted to a friend's daughter. Tuomas the keyboardist writes all the songs in Nightwish. Don't get confused that it is female sung. |
|
| Nightwish – 7 Days to the Wolves Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's about death and also the composer's creed about what to do while you're still alive. | |
| Iron Maiden – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| ...and the chorus "these colours don't run, from cold bloody war" refers that we cannot be broken by terrorism | |
| Iron Maiden – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
"Paying for my freedom with your Lonely unmarked graves" These lines make it pretty obvious that this song is written in tribute to the soldiers who died in the war against terrorism. |
|
| Iron Maiden – Brighter Than a Thousand Suns Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| The line "We are not his chosen people now" is also a reference to Oppenheimer since he was Jewish. | |
| Nightwish – Sleeping Sun Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
This beautiful song is a metaphor of depression. The singer just want to express her dark inner condition on the solar eclipse as she wishes this outer world condition of unusual darkness to last for her entire lifetime (to fit her inner condition). I hope it makes sense. Excuse me for bad English. One of the best songs ever written by Tuomas. (maybe the best) @biso: Tarja is beautiful! |

| Dire Straits – Where Do You Think You're Going? Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I like these acoustic songs of DS better then their more prominent hits like Money For Nothing. | |
| LeAnn Rimes – Can't Fight The Moonlight Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
LeAnn Rimes in the music video looks better than the actress playing the part in Coyote Ugly :-) Nice song btw. Country singers usually can do better popmusic than pop singers. :-) (Shania Twain is best proof) |
|
| Dire Straits – Sultans Of Swing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Really self-explanatory. It's about an amateur band playing out-of-fashion music without interest for popularity and revenues but only for the love of playing it. |
|
| Iron Maiden – Prowler Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I did the same the song's about many times earlier. Jerking off to elite high school girls from close distance at the bushes is always fun :-) The great old times... | |
| Cutting Crew – (I Just) Died in Your Arms Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| "some kind of kiss" might be some kind of fellatio :-) | |
| Cutting Crew – (I Just) Died in Your Arms Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I interpret it as he had a lot a girlfriends/relations but never got the feeling he really wanted and ultimately he finds that a whore can give him what he wants and now he regrets it because now he can't really appreciate any honest girl because he enjoyed himself with the whore the way he always liked to and knows that he can get that feeling only with the whore. | |
| Black Sabbath – I Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I agree with your explanation | |
| Black Sabbath – Die Young Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| sorry! "...and it tears away, and it face you..." | |
| Black Sabbath – Die Young Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think the opening lines correctly are: "Gather the wind, though the wind won't help you fly, it hurl your backs to the wall. Chain the sun, and it tears away, and it tacks you as you run, you run, you run" It makes sense this way. I also think the essential meaning of the song is that if you "live for today" then "tomorrow never comes" and you're "gonna die young". Can be considered as "a promise to be told" for self-destructive lifestyle. |

| Iron Maiden – Sign of the Cross Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| ...the original book cover shows a big cross | |
| Iron Maiden – Sign of the Cross Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Of course this is based on the book and movie "The name of the rose" and about the inquisition. | |
| Iron Maiden – Remember Tomorrow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Just listened to all my records of the song and my order is the following: 1.) Maiden live 2005 Ullevi 2.) Maiden Japan live 1980 3.) Cover by Opeth 4.) Original album version |
|
| Iron Maiden – Remember Tomorrow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The best record of this song to me is the 2005 Maiden live in Ullevi. The Opeth studio cover is also fantastic. | |
| Iron Maiden – Remember Tomorrow Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song is superb. One of my all time favourites. | |
| Iron Maiden – For the Greater Good of God Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| A song about religious fanatism. Great! | |
| Iron Maiden – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's definitely not antiwar but not prowar either. It's not about politics it's about the man, the soldier who goes to far foreign lands to defend the interests of his country for a hopeless fate. | |
| Iron Maiden – No More Lies Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I wouldn't think this song is about Jesus. It's much more about a man who got in a spiral of lies screwing up his life and he's too deep so couldn't break out any other way than killing himself. Not because he doesn't like life itself .His hope in reincarnation shows that. Just to get rid of THIS life of lies. |
|
| Iron Maiden – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
After a bit of retought of these lines: "On the shores tyranny you crashed a human wave/ Paying for my freedom with your lonely unmarked graves." i think it's most likely about the british expeditionary forces that fought in Europe many times in history like in the war against Napoleon, in WW1, the BEF in WW2 etc. |
|
| Iron Maiden – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It could be also about the 'antiterrorist' war. This line: "Paying for my freedom with your lonely unmarked graves." suggests that. |
|
| Iron Maiden – These Colours Don't Run Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's about dying in foreign lands in a war far from home. Left without any hope and chance to survive. Think about the germans in the encircled Stalingrad. |
