this song is about being yourself.. I think the "Things" outside of me are other people's judgments, not material things at all. "Would I complete myself without the things I like around?" I think is talking about people that the singer likes..including someone he cares about romantically. In the third verse it becomes clear that something is wrong with the singer and his girl. The reference to 'clothes' (which appears several times in the song) is about the image of ourselves that we present to the everyone else. So "Only Ma'd pretend to like the clothes you showed to me" is saying something about how his girl is making him show/be a different person than the one that is really inside of him. The second to last line "And don't go changing clothes when they don't like yours" sounds like advice. The singer realizes he cannot change who he is for another person (nor should he have to). The last line though is thoughtful...does how other people see you define who you are? I sure hope not I love this song and Animal Collective...try not to judge me on my kind of taste |

At first i did think this song was about an imaginary friend but there are very direct sexual references. "Phantom ride April's hole" "I sneak around you're on top a frenzy April then we ride again" the part about the mother knowing is interesting too..not really sure..she say's she sorry. Maybe April regrets her sexual experience/encounter but it's too late to take it back..she's grown up now whether or not she wants to be. The part with the screaming is desperate sounding and could easily be a teenage girl freaking out... |

This song is about how you are really nervous around someone because you are just crazy of them and thats why the mood of the song is fast paced and almost nervous.
