I have to make a small correction: Part of me has VIED To watch it burn And the heart of me has tried BUT look what it's become to vie = to rival, to struggle for superiority I think it makes more sense with 'vie' ... also, you can clearly hear an V, not a D in the song. |

Hm.. "but when reconsiderate" sounds like "but when reconsidering" and "these are the memories of sate" sounds like "these are the images i've saved" |

| Paolo Nutini – New Shoes Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think the mew shoes may be a metaphor for a new attitude on his life :) The old shoes signify a bad attitude about life, the kind "my life sucks, it's boring, blah blah, i regret this and that" Then he suddenly realises that he shouldn't waste time anymore thinking like that, and changes his perspective (compare to "to be in someone else's shoes") and sees that life is worth and also sees all the little things that make life great... basically he sees the brightside of everything and turns his life around. I think that "take me wondering through these streets where bright lights and angels meet" may signify a going on a new path, a beginning, guided by his *bright* new outlook on life. well, that's just my opinion... maybe it really is about some magical shoes :P |

Um, guys, am I the only one that thinks from the song that the moon represents the girl and sun represents the guy? "When the sun found the moon *SHE* was drinking tea in a garden" "When the moon found the sun *HE* looked like he was barely hanging on But *HER* eyes saved his life" |

| Hard-Fi – Watch Me Fall Apart Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Personally I think it's about a guy who has fallen in love and while he was happily in love he thought everything was possible, but then the girl broke his heart and his world crumbled. Now he blames himself because he was "too slow." I think "Watch me reap the pain that I have sown" means that before the girl broke his heart he invested a great deal of time/affection on her and now it's turned against him, turning into the pain "he has sown" -- this also makes sense because he is blaming himself for this failure. "Every smiling face brings him down" because they remind him of her or of happy moments with her prolly. Dunno, that's just the way I see it. |
