| He stated in an interview that this was his first song he wrote, when he just arrived at the cabin. I think the lyrics are more or less a collection of moments on his way there. First he had to sell some stuff or so, to get the money to survive for three months. (sold my red horse for a venture home) Also the lines : all at once, rushing from the sub-pump, can be taken quiet literaly. Rushing from the pump as he fills up his pickup or sth and then he nicely finishes it of with : We will see when it gets warm...so as I said, leaving from home to his cabin, not knowing what to expect or when it will get better | |

I think this is about him being rejected somewhere in December. The girl tells him that she's not in love but that she still wants to be friends (hence the : nd even if you spun cartwheels with sparklers in your hands it wouldn't be enough for me) Sparklers = holliday period? Another interpretation is, the singer of PMFS was abandoned by his father quite early on. It might have something to do with him leaving or the dad comming back after a while |

In the Egyptian culture, the Pharaoh was the replacement for Ra or at some point for Amon. This song is from the point of view from the Pharaoh who is treated like a God on earth, but who will eventually (as everyone) die. The last verse is about the so-called curse of the Pharaoh (caused by toxic air with fungus after being closed for over 3000 years). He is a mummy, but he'll still strike for those who open his tomb. Pretty straightforward song |
