| Cymbals Eat Guitars – Indiana Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This song is so good. From my interpretation, while on a bus ride through Indiana, he becomes aware of the lost ancient beauty of the unpopulated, primitive physical features of the land, and slips into a vision of these features coming to life before him. He connects with them and their uncertainty (hazy sea) and the realization of the intrusion of modern development (well-lighted homes, ceaseless light) drives him sort of mad. | |

Awesome song. Many references to Slick Rick's La Di Da Di. Slug knows all the words to La Di Da Di and gets mocked for it, as he says in the song Hungry Fuck from Sad Clown Bad Dub 2. |

| Why? – Dirty Glass Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it was strange hearing this song for the first time, because one of my childhood toys was a toy telephone that made the exact animal sounds and "choose an activity" as in the beginning of the song. random memory. | |
| Death Cab for Cutie – Someday You Will Be Loved Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| this song reminds me of the movie Donnie Darko and the character Cherita Chen. at one point, he grabs her randomly and says "I promise that one day, things will get better for you." she secretly loves Donnie, and later in the film, when people are remembering Donnie in the "waking dream" sense, she is seen lying in bed, thinking. | |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXv4aIk5c-4 he explains it briefly in the beginning. I believe the part that was his answering machine ends at "someone dialed up my line today". the rest seems to kind of evaluate the current state of his life in comparison to when he wrote it. |

| The Gaslight Anthem – Blue Jeans and White T-Shirts Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| the background singing reminds me so much of Sink, Florida, Sink by Against Me! . | |
| Atmosphere – Always Coming Back Home To You Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I take it as her response to him not stealing her car. she took the chance of leaving her car running. the angel (Slug?) didn't steal it. the whole song is a strange conflict between good and evil. as the both sides present themselves to him, he seems disinterested and just reflects on his past. at least that's how I see it. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – A Baby for Pree (Live at Jittery Joe's) Lyrics | 16 years ago |

just an odd coincidence- whenever I listened to this version, I would hear "And when Isaiah came to pour all her babies all across the bathroom floor" instead of "the day it came to pour". Isaiah 44:3 "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring" |

| AFI – Head Like a Hole (Nine Inch Nails cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I loved the nine inch nails version of this, but it kind of disappoints me that a band would do a cover like this. there aren't THAT many differences between the two, besides the general emotion of the song. trent reznor's voice is edgier and the emotion sounds truer (maybe because he wrote it. go figure...) the whole point is that if you aren't going to really add something to the song, what is the freaking point of making it? it's just deceiving to people that listen to it thinking that AFI is amazing for writing it. it's like if an average joe painted an almost exact replica of the Mona Lisa, and showed it off to people. the people that had never seen the original painting would think it was great, and the people that had seen the original Mona Lisa would spit in the guy's face for trying to compare himself to the great Leonardo Da Vinci. |
