To me, Fog is a name for memories. He has lost someone important, and now they only exist in his mind. With: "i'll meet you in the fog again and between you and i we can make some sense of this" He is talking about rethinking moments they spent together, or even coming up with a new conversation that gives him closure on why they had to part. Unfortunately, this conversation will never really happen, so he imagines it repeatedly. Like most people, I automatically assume its about a relationship, since everyone has felt like this about someone before. But the lyrics hint more towards a friend that committed suicide- "I tried to warn you, but you were out of your head I tried to hold you back. I tried to warn you, but you were out of your head" He feels guilt over not being able to prevent this persons death. Also, considering all the ways he tried to get information (the tealeaf, crystal ball, and a gypsy), he believes in a sort of afterlife. The gypsy hinted that they will never see eachother again, which triggered his anger. Since he admits it was wrong to burn down the woman's house, we are led to believe our singer might be on the road to recovery. :D |
