Tilly and the Wall – The Freest Man Lyrics | 15 years ago |
neely o'hara isn't about neely jenkins. neely o'hara is a character from valley of the dolls, completely different neely as far as everyone knows. i will be grateful for this day is about neely jenkins. |
Bright Eyes – I Will Be Grateful for This Day Lyrics | 15 years ago |
the first part of this song is definitely about neely jenkins, but not about elliott smith. this song was released as a single with a semi-different version of when the curious girl realizes she is under glass. it was put out in 2001, elliott didnt commit suicide until 2003. |

The Mountain Goats – In the Hidden Places Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"Pulled my sleeves down over my hands, over my hands And I wished I was someone else And I wished it was warmer" i always get a knot stuck in my throat and my eyes start stinging like they're about to cry when i hear this part. |
Conor Oberst – Lenders in the Temple Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Conor Oberst – Souled Out!!! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
also, an electric razor was patented by an american manufacturer, and the refrence to the jfk assassination, american president, so the refrences to america can like support the whole immigration, coming to america theory. so the whole "all you need is an electric razor, a magic bullet in a grassy knoll" is like the whole idea of america as a promised land.. people think they need to come to america, because its sucha perfect place. |
Conor Oberst – Souled Out!!! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
conor said this is the only song on the album he wrote in mexico like started writing there/finished there, so the whole immigration thing can be totally right, especially the line "fingers crossed in the promise land" which can be an immigrant coming to america hoping for better opportunities. my parents came to america from mexico as well, for a search of a better life, we got lucky, ya know..."we got into heaven" but for some others "they wont be getting in" to the heaven they thought they were gonna find.. im probably not making sense.. |

Bright Eyes – A Scale, a Mirror, and Those Indifferent Clocks Lyrics | 15 years ago |
a lot of people say conor's an atheist, and i think you guys are just interpreting some of his words wrong, like someone mentioned before, he has said he believes in god, i just think he doesnt agree with religion and the fact that people cram it down other people's throats, or when religion takes over a person's life, and anything beyond the religion is supposedly wrong... i dont know cause i feel the same way about religion, i could be wrong, but thats what i think people mistake for him being an atheist also, if you listen to the big picture off of lifted theres a line that says "so if it makes you happy then keep kneeling mama, but im standing up", so he may believe in god but he doesnt believe in things associated with religion such as praying, going to church..ect ect ect. by the way this has nothing to do with this song, i was just a little bothered by people who were saying he was an atheist and all, but back to the song, it totally blows my mind, my favorite off of fevers and mirrors. |
