I think John may have gotten a bit of Meher Baba in here, as well...Meher Baba, Avatar, stopped speaking after stating that(I am, of course, paraphrasing here) everything we say, has been said before.....John must have had some exposure to Meher Baba, just being close to Pete Townshend...anyway, that is what I think of when I hear these lyrics. I also think that beyond being one of John's best songs, it is one of THE best WHO songs of all time. |

I think the "Mary" in this song, is the Mother of Jesus...he say's he has got, seven pictures of Budda, on his wall; he has searched for God in many places, but in the end, "meet me at Mary's place" where Jesus was born..... |
