sounds like a marriage/relationship that seemed like it was going to be great and was at first but the spark went out as quickly as it came, but the person feels too trapped to do anything about it, leave the person. |

I like the gender ideas from everybody, but that's not what I thought of right away.
I saw the ribbon as something like a status/reputation holding the person back from saying what they really thought. Think about what would happen if a celebrity or president said exactly what they thought about something or someone regarding a messy situation (just burn it down, get rid of it, just kill them, etc.). They'd be revealed as miserable fucks just like the rest of us.
Alternatively, it could be about someone whose beauty and popularity are purely external. If they were to reveal their true selves, their accomplishments (muscles) would be for nothing, and their worst fears (demons) would come true. |

It made me think of someone who sees the cars as lies, problems, difficulties, sins in a situation that should probably be addressed and solved, but that would take too much effort and stop the traffic. It would be too inconvenient. So the long line of cars was originally coming from the person spawning the problems (you) but at the end, the cars are still moving and the enabler is now to blame (me). |
