its cool to see a metal band that condems racism, sexism, and homophobia. I don't really see why people dont like this album. just b/c he uses clean vocals doesnt make it bad. and the actual music sounds awesome. The only song i don't really like is Anthem. |

this obviously means something more than an ice cube melting. It's primus, so there's some superfical humor to the fact that its about an ice cube, but there is some obvious deeper menaing to it. A wife that turned cold and melted away is a good explanation, the marriage didn't last forever even though he wanted it to. I also think that he was the cause of the problem because he held her in his hands il she melted away; his overbearing love (or the heat of his hand) melted her away. Primus has a great way of fusing humor and meaning. |

i see that no one has mentioned that solve et coagula is an alchemic principal. 'Fire, planetary alchemy' geduhh.. This song is about alchemy. It always makes me think of that Full Metal Alchemist anime |

well madludwig, imo, anything tool usually has a deeper meaning. the fact that the song fits with jungian psychology is one thing ('my shadow', the whole 46 and 2 thing, etc.), but the albums title is a direct refrence to carl jung's anima/animus theory. so i really dont see any reason to be skeptical about the fact that it is, in fact, about jungian theory. Also, it doesn't feel like a story to me, but thats purely my opinion. What happened? At 46 and 2nd street, he shed skin and picked at some scabs? seems like a stretch... |

This song got me turned on to the rest of the album. I love In Flames' lyrics, theyre phenomonal DreamersDiesease pretty much sums it up. I get tired of people complaining about 'the new in flames.' just because his lyrical style is different from his previous albums doesn't mean it's bad. It doesn't sound whiney, it sounds like pure, raw emotion, but apparently it's too much for some people. Here's an idea: enjoy the band because they are talented and awesome and will not be around forever, they've got quite a few albums under their belt already. |
