to me, i'm not gonna get all deep with this it's about getting high, and wanting to quit i think in the beginning, he's looking back on himself, thinking about how he was after his first couple times (you feeling moany?/you feeling lonely?/you're not the only/what is the right way?) he just keeps questioning himself, like he's unsure how everything's supposed to go then it kinda fast-forwards to the present, i guess and the high kinda fades (ha. word play.) anyhow- the high isn't the same way it was (old glasses clinking, cuz it's all old news. new order's blinking cuz, well, that's what he's looking for; which would explain why he's weighted by thinking, and not floating like he used to) the river is obviously some metaphor for something that didn't aid him the way he thought it would; saying that it can't make you change, and that the sky gets filled up too fast i thought this might be soberity then there's the bit with the taxi cab and then i thought it might be contemplation that's his issue he's so busy daydreaming and thinking and considering, it really didn't make him change so, in the end, what does he want? an frequent, tired out high or endless, meaningless contemplation that's my take on it, anyway |
