dudes! i read a lot of people write that this song almost made them cry...my boyfriend just left to canada for almost 2 months =( i won't see him that entire time...this song made me cry my heart out! i'll say it one more time for you then we really have to go you've been the only thing that's right in all i've done *this was this morning before the flight, late for the airport, didn't want to leave...i feel lost in my life right now, like every decision i've made has been the wrong one, except for him...hes the escape from it all* and i can barely look at you but every single time i do i know we'll make it anywhere away from here *for me: it's hard to look at his picture because i just start missing him so much and i think of how much it's going to suck to be away from each other for so long, but when i do look at him i know that our love is so strong when we're together, that even apart and away from each other (away from here) we will make it through, without a doubt...very reassuring* to think i might not see those eyes makes it so hard not to cry and as we say our long goodbyes i nearly do *OMG! =( tear* beautiful song! really makes you feel! wow i sound like a stupid romantic sap...haha...oh well that's how i feel! |

This is my favorite song from this band hands down. I think anyone and everyone could relate to this song. Everyone at some point in their lives comes to a crossroad...also, at some point, everyone questions who they are. This song is exactly about that. To me its about trying to become someone, maybe someone better, but losing your true self along the way. "I wanted to be that breath of fresh air, when everything smelt so incincere" *he was trying to become something better, something good, something different in such a fucked up world. "which part, of me is lost? I feel so close and yet i am so far" *obviously, a part of him is lost, but he doesnt know which part. He knows that he isnt himself, he knows that something is missing, so in that sense hes close to fixing the problem, but because he has no idea what is wrong, what it is that is missing, hes still so far away from finally solving the issue. Great song! I feel like this all the time, and songs like these let people know they arent alone in feeling this way. ROCK ON FFTL! |

Love this song! Anyone could relate to it. "sometimes you've got to fold before you're found out" *like in playing poker, theres only a certain extent to which you can bluff, if you do it too much, people will start to catch on, so you have to know when to just throw the cards in... in life, you can only keep a lie going for so long until someone discovers the truth. So i guess hes saying he understand why she wants out, because she knows shes wrong and is quitting while shes ahead, before he discovers the "truth"...or something along the lines of that lol. "Now that i can see you, i dont think you're worth a second glance" *self-explanatory! But it happens to the best of us. They say love is blind, in the beginning, you dont completely know the person and its easy to get caught up in a new relationship and just not see the other persons flaws until a later time...then you realize, they werent who you thought they were. "I guess that all you've got is all you're gunna get, so much for, so much more" This is my fav part of the song! Its so true, for that type of person. Because of the type of person she is, everything shes got in her life now, is all shell ever get. Theres no way for her to grow until she can change. Like he said in the beginning, she wanted out, she quit instead of trying to make things right, so if shes always going to do that, how can she ever get more than she already has? If that makes any sense lol. |

OMG! This song is fucking amazing! The lyrics are brilliant! The song is filled with emotion! "You dont need to bother, i dont need to be" *I think this is pretty self-explanatory. Lets say hes talking about a girl, someone he loves, he saying that she doesnt have to worry or care about him, and he feels he doesnt really need to exist. *Never had a voice to protest, so you fed me shit to digest" *I can totally relate to this! In fact i could say this exact sentence to someone and it would be completely true. Not having a voice to protest, in my opinion, means you dont stand up for yourself or your beliefs. When something wrong happens, or someone says or does something that you dont agree with, instead of confronting the issue, you just accept it. Which in turn, makes you very easy to be taken advantage of and walked all over. This is where the "fed me shit to digest" part comes in. To me, hes referring to all the bullshit she, or whomever, told him, or in other words, all the lies. Man, i can so relate to that part! "I wish i had a reason, my flaws are open season, for this i gave up trying, one good turn deserves my dying" *Another part i can relate to! Saying that his flaws are open season could mean that they are revealed, or just exposed for everyone to see. He wishes he knew why! But because he doesnt, he gave up trying to figure it out...and he just figures that he gave it one good try, and that was enough. This song is amazing! Everytime i listen to it, it always makes me feel something! One of my favorite songs ever (even though it is sad and depressing). I hope Corey keeps up with the slower songs like this one, Through Glass and Vermillion Pt. 2, they all ROCK and his voice is amazing! ROCK ON! |

I agree...this song is pretty much self-explanatory and also very TRUE! "There's nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home." *I think this means you learn lesson from your mistakes. All the wrong or bad things that you've done or that was done to you is what the blood represents, the mistakes. But by making mistakes is exactly how we learn, and in the end we can use those lessons to become a better person, to find who we really are - finding our way back home. "There's nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive" *SO TRUE! We've all heard of the saying "You don't know what you've got til its gone"...which is the same idea. Going to a funeral would make you realize just how short and precious life is, and how lucky you are to be alive and living it. SO LIVE EACH DAY LIKE ITS YOUR LAST! |

| DEF one of my favs from Bloc Party! I think I would relate best to vlcmaap's interpretation...however i dont think the kids necessarily were abused or neglected, more so just that their parents are divorced or separated and they are living now with a single parent and coping with the fact that the other isnt around. But i dont think the song is about the kids...more about the parent, from the parent's p.o.v. As far as the phrase " Like drinking poison, like eating glass" goes, i think it is an analogy. I think it means whatever he/they are going through is very painful, just as painful as drinking poison or eating glass would be. | |
