| Dissection – Where Dead Angels Lie Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| This is a real beauty. A wonderfully sad story about angels. I personally don't even want to think about its possible 'hidden' meaning. All I have to do is visualise the dead angel upon whom the snow keeps falling in the night. Together with the music its a miracle. | |

| I wonder if the title is some kind of a military code or anything like that. | |

Guys, this whole record is a concept album about a serial killer. Any more questions? |

Would love to write you a short story right now... but no time pal! So just immagine the character is Ripley after sending the alien out to deep space, only without a hibernation device. |

Somebody up there asked about the line "monkey on my back". It refers to drugs, of course. I think I first met the expression in William S. Burroughs's Naked Lunch. It is explained, that when you're addicted, it's like there's a monkey on your back that you have to feed constantly, or that wants a bit of everything you own, thus making your life harder. I'm not sure but it might as well mean that the monkey is pretty funny and entertaining for a while, but it wants more and more and gets more and more annoying, since you can't get rid of it. The bottom line, it's definitely a metaphor for drugs. |

Agreed! Every single thing has a metaphorical meaning if you want it to. Yeah, the relationship between a mother and a child is a relationship so it has something in common with other relationships. Also, a mother loves her baby, so it has something in common with anything related to love, too. I think the genius in the song is the contrast of the subject (being a cute little baby) and the pretty agressive music. I see it as a counterpoint to the song "The edge of the world" where they just did the opposite. (pedofile-soft, tender music) Well, not quite. I immagine parents wishing their babies to hell sometimes (even while loving them so much), so the dark music just might represent the mother's nervous breakdowns as well as the baby's conniption fits. Anyway, it's hilarious and very sincere. It's like admitting you wish your old and disabled relative sholud die so you don't have to take care of him/her any longer. Clearly, it's easier if you think about him/her as an evil human being who deliberately creates problems for you - "I like to make a mess..." |
