| Esthero – Superheroes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
i think it's "you're delicious. your delicious eyes send me on a quest for lullabies." i always thought it was about the same as Venus as a Boy. sunrise, sunlight, white sheets in the morning. sight gives way to touch as the primary sense. |

| Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five – The Message Lyrics | 16 years ago |

"so so so ditty" >> social security i think this song illustrates the warped perception one has when being raised within the ghetto environment, and the mindset that opportunity just isn't there. it's much less available than it is to the middle class, certainly, but it is possible to escape. the ghetto's greatest detriment is its effect on one's identity, with so little exposure to "positive" influences. so, on its surface, the song is about being overwhelmed by negativity. but, taking it further, that negativity has a profound effect on self perception, and will breed ignorance of potential. of course, this all stems from my limited understanding of the American ghetto and i'm not giving it as dogma. i might even be stating the obvious, idk |

| Lady GaGa – Just Dance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
awful. who are you to assign value to a benign experience? imply that intellectual pleasure is inherently better than sensory pleasure? impose your own priorities on others? if you knew anything about Gaga, rather than just inferring from the fact that she's popular, you'd understand how strategic and comprehensive her approach to commercial music is. but, obviously, your priority is opportunistic hate. |

| Lady GaGa – Just Dance Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| it's about the sensory overwhelm and escapism that is party culture. "where are my keys/phone, i don't remember but it's alright. just dance." experience the present to the fullest, worry about reality later. | |
| The Knife – We Share Our Mother's Health Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i thought it was about loss of traditional values. Terlis, shut the fuck up. | |
| Esthero – Breath from Another Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"don't compromise what's gold for the soul you never sold" yeah it sounds like an unwanted pregnancy, she's deciding whether to follow through with it. apparently she doesn't. still trying to figure out what the father's position is. concept continues into "Heaven Sent". |

| Elvis Presley – The Impossible Dream Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
it;s "to right the unrightable wrong" i think the song means that the goal doesn't matter, it's the process. either that, or it means to pursue happiness before all else. |

| Gil Scott-Heron – We Almost Lost Detroit Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i'm just wondering the history of detroit. cos the meaning of the song seems pretty direct. karen Silkwood is an activist who worked at a 'giant power station'. idk which in particular. | |
| Moby – Disco Lies Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i always thought it was "we tried a baby, it didn't work, and now i know that this is gonna be the end." that was the only line that made any sense at all, and it happens that it was misheard. |

| Elton John – Harmony Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
he seems so sarcastic during the verses, but in the chorus, the music soars up, and the boy reveals that his bitterness is only a front-- this is a naive sensitive boy, and he's unfortunately in love with a girl who uses him. he knows this, yet there remains this delusion that they could exist forever in love. at the same time he doesn't want to seem vulnerable and at this girl's mercy, and he knows he's a sad pathetic fuck. |

i got the impression of s&m, dandi playing dominatrix. it could still be based on the movie, but i've never seen it. |

| First Aid Kit – You're Not Coming Home Tonight Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
i like the way the lyrics are presented. there's no grandeur, no descriptive words. they don't tell the listener what to feel. instead, they give a simple situation, and let the listener's own creativity do the rest. let him form his own emotions. the lyrics are even more powerful because the instrumental is minimal- basically a showcase for the story being told. there's no complexity to sway the listener's reaction one way or another. the elements all come together so well. :) |

| Elton John – All The Girls Love Alice Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| that does make sense. | |
| Tom Waits – Lonely Lyrics | 17 years ago |

when i got this song (illegitimately) it was titled incorrectly "closing time". i liked it better that way than as "lonely", which is too obvious a title. |

| so she just dies? | |
| Jacques Brel – Ne Me Quitte Pas Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
it's interesting- brel said this song isn't about heartbreak, exactly. it's about the cowardice of men (wikipedia) in any case this song drips romantic love to a level that i think is almost cheesy. but the lyrics are so poignant and original that the emotion couldnt possibly have been faked. sorry i cant contribute anything to the meaning of the song- anyway i think it's obvious what he's trying to say he repeats it 4 times in the chorus (which is also so effective! i love jacques brel!) to aurore: yes he did sweats a Lot! i noticed that!!! hahaha! |

| The Knife – You Take My Breath Away Lyrics | 17 years ago |

i think beer good is right. maybe it's how they met? Jenny heard them on the radio and karin went to her concert? if that, it's an unusually literal song. then i'm not sure how the 3rd verse plays into this idea. maybe it's fillers or to add ambiguity. |
