if taken in a literal sense, this song could be interpreted as the writer speaking to a child , with "bad dreams" and the "creeps" i agree whoever he is speaking to he is certainly trying to comfort them |

i've listened to this song so many times trying to get the ultimate meaning of it. to me, it's a bittersweet farewell to a relationship that is precious to the writer, but has ended nonetheless. there are subtle references to the times they had- from meeting and starting their romance to getting drunk on halloween ("by midnight we'd forgotten one another and when the morning came i was ashamed") and even to their sexual life ("my hand between your knees"), and all the while the writer is saying remember me, remember all of these good times they did share despite the bad things he refers to i cant tell if she died or not, but it definitely seems like it this is a beautiful and philosophical song and it is one of my favorites |
