| Bright Eyes – Old Soul Song (For the New World Order) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| The song is about a protest-turned-riot. First he wakes up, and meets with a friend. They walk to the protest site. The friend brings a camera, hoping to catch the police brutality that they just witnessed. Then they go to a dark room to check it out. The wall of new TV's line references how in riots, that sort of thing usually gets broken. And how there is a beauty in people standing up for their beliefs. | |
| Brand New – Welcome to Bangkok Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I hate to rain on anyone's parade here, but the title "Welcome To Bangkok" refers to the Van Damme movie Kickboxer. Google it or something. | |

The reason the song isn't titled "Coca-Cola" according to an interview with Jesse Lacey, is because of some sort of copyright issue. Apparently, there are implications in naming songs after soft drink corporations. |

| Brand New – The Archers Bows Have Broken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I wouldn't necessarily say that the "beating with a book everyone that book tells you to love" line is referring directly to Christians, but rather, using them as an example. Its talking about people who use their beliefs in that way. | |
| Brand New – Fork and Knife Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
To "lay down the fork and knife" means to give up, or quit trying. It is sometimes used when talking about death, used much in the same way as terms such as, "kick the bucket." But as much as I like the "laying down the fork and knife" theory, I'm pretty sure takeiteasytigers is right, it's the name of a restaurant on Long Island. Hell, maybe he means both. I wouldn't put it past the greatest lyricist of our time. |

I know what you mean, sometimes the lyrics are pretty obvious. But by stay open minded, I meant, this particular set of lyrics could be about many different things. I meant even though it seems obvious to you, it may mean something else to another person. I was implying that you shouldn't focus so narrowly on the idea that you are right, and that no matter what anyone else says, they are wrong. |

missrobineee, I'm not saying you're blatantly wrong. But I really don't think every song Jesse has written since Deja is about Sherri (or girls getting hit by limousines) Just try to stay open minded. And I think Arter has a great take on the song, someone missing out on their childhood a bit. |

| Brand New – Degausser Lyrics | 17 years ago |

SecondFig, obviously, Jesse Lacey is somewhat religious. I mean, Jesus Christ, Seventy Times Seven, Archers, Limousine, Millstone, and many other songs have strong religious ties. And he is Christian, seeing as how he attended a christian school. And the album name isn't a quote from Daniel Johnston. It is a quote from a CONVERSATION about Daniel Johnston, that Jesse Lacey had with a friend. So yes, the album title, being chosen by Jesse, probably has a lot to do with the album. |
