The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition Lyrics 15 years ago
If you wanna get technical, bands are actually considered "collective nouns" in British English (though many Americans also refer to them this way) so it is indeed proper to say "____ are a good band" as opposed to "____ is a good band".

I think they're just saying "too fast, too too too fast, too fast".

I agree, great song.

Keane – Early Winter Lyrics 17 years ago
Love this song. Really captures the feeling of going from a cold wet autumn to a cold wet winter. I really love the lyrics:

"No sooner was I born
Than I was dying
What kind of world is this?
Its only a stone for throwing"

Clearly there is a disagreement with a person here ("you turn me over"), but there also seems to be just a general resentment with life, and the way human history is going.

Also, winter is the "death" of the year. Plants die, the year literally ends. It's "too much" to start over (spring is like starting over). Essentially he asks, iIs it worth it to try and fix this relationship if we're all going to die anyway?

Keane – Black Burning Heart Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this is about war, particularly from a soldier's view, kind of like "A Bad Dream". The soldier is sickened by the hate and destruction that he/she has seen and wants to disappear into "cellars of the sea" and forget about the destruction. To:
"Leave this life
It's unrelenting appetite
For feeding off the weak
Who never had their turn to speak"
Possibly the civilian victims of war?
He can paper over the cracks in his heart from what he's seen, but the pain will still be there.
"The sky will be my shroud
A cenotaph of cloud"
A centotaph is (according to Wikipedia) "a tomb or a monument erected in honour of a person or group of persons whose remains are elsewhere...often...dedicated to the memories of groups of individuals, such as the war dead of one country or empire"
And in the end he's lost, has "false starts" can't get integrated back into society after having seen the horrors of war.
There are of course parts that don't fit with this, but I think this fits with the rest of the album, the idea of human self-destruction and the downward spiral we're all in.
