One of the most beautifully melodic bands' most beautifully written songs. The writer has been spurned by either a friend or a lover, and is questioning why god would allow him to feel so much pain. He wonders if time or he himself will ever dull the pain he feels from this, perhaps happening before many times in his life. He questions if god even loves him or the world because he can't remember the last time he'd been moved so much in awe or happiness, as he has been in pain and suffering. And he wonders if his faith is even enough to give him the strength to keep above water. To fix his broken relationships, or even the emptiness he feels inside because of it. Though he is of faith, and has felt god help him through past pain, he wonders if it's just possible for the pain to stop. He knows his part in what has hurt him, but just wishes the situation wouldn't occur in the first place and he could be eternally happy. But he knows that everyone suffers the same in their own path to the eternal, and on with this knowledge, he can only have faith and press on until his death, as that is his test. |
