| Gary Clark Jr. – When My Train Pulls In Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Aside from the general amazingness of the song, what I realize is that this song can be applied to just about anything that surrounds loneliness. I take this song to be about the general feeling of distrust and betrayal around people who claim to care about you and that overwhelming desire to get away from them, start over. For me, at the moment, it's a relationship. But it can also be a disillusionment of the glorified "family loyalty" or just the classic false friends. Treachery knows no bounds. | |
| The Avett Brothers – Murder in the City Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Agreed. I was driving to this song one day and that line came and stuck out to me, I had to rewind it a couple times to truly let that sink it. That...that was deep and so gorgeous. | |
| Interpol – Pace Is the Trick Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song gets me so excited and I'm not sure why. Out of all the lyrics, the chorus sticks with me like glue: "I've seen love And I follow the speed in the starlight I've seen love And I follow the speed in the star-swept night" I know I have the rest of the lyrics to consider, but the chorus alone tells me that this is a man who knows love exists...he's seen it for himself, like a comet shooting across a starry night. He chases it and he won't stop going after it. Pace IS the trick because sometimes love is hard to catch, but he's not stopping. |

Well, I am just shocked no one's commented on this song! It's one of the best ones of the album along with "Airstream Driver" This might sound dense but I think this about a man in a relationship ruled by bickering and fighting and in the song he's just finally freeing himself her and it all, bit by bit? Or it could mean there's a part of himself that he keeps from her about she does her best to figure what it is though she'll never find out. Idk. But I LOVE this song. |

| The Devlins – World Outside Lyrics | 16 years ago |

That sounds good but I think there's something else. The rhythm of the song is so sultry and dark that I can't help but think he's not just telling her he'll be there for her. I think he's also saying he'll fulfill her every inner desires and fantasies. I think he's also telling her what she does to him in sacred love. I sense a lot of passion in this song. |

| Van Morrison – I'll Be Your Lover, Too Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I came across this on itunes, I was looking the name of Van Morrison that just kept slipping my mind and in the midst of my search I was randomly previewing songs and came across. Wow. Just wow. I already loved Van Morrison for Tupelo Honey, the love he expresses brings tears in my eyes but this song, right here, just proved o me that he is the only artist I know that expresses love so beautifully and simply. It ignites your hope in true love again |

| Guillemots – Sao Paulo Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Ok, I'm taking a big shot at the dark so don't jump on me if I'm wrong. The Narrator is telling someone a story about a sad memory. Sit down my love of all good spaces and breathe my love let's all be spent i'm going to tell you both a story about some memories that i dreamt He starts to tell the story about how he's lost the person he loved most, he doesn't quite tell the listener how he's lost her but he expresses how devastating it was and still is to him. see i've lost love in many places not least the streets of sao paolo and friends especially, i didn't make them a ten floor window to her home sometimes i could cry for miles sometimes i could cry for miles sometimes i could cry for miles but i don't I'm assuming this is the woman he loved, and he tells the listener how she is being burned in front of a large crowd in the streets of Sao Paolo, and he has no choice but to watch. so hush the shadows in the oak tree be still you curl upon the moor my heart has fallen upon the wayside i cannot claim her anymore so don your duffel coats quite slowly and this sad jury has ajurned while on the streets of old sao paolo i watch my baby being burned sometimes i could cry for miles sometimes i could cry for miles sometimes i could cry for miles but i don't Still he expresses tragic this loss is to him. He wants to cry and leave the town but he just can't. He could go on with his life if he wanted to but he doesn't want too. sometimes i could cry nine times drop my bags and run for miles and sometimes i could live my life but i wont, but i won't I'm not quite sure what being thrown across water means but I believe it's his way of saying this painful memory is like going through constant pain that bounces over in his mind every second of the day like a stone bounces off the layer of water when you throw it. I think for him, the stone keeps going for eternity instead of just stopping and sinking into the water. have you ever been thrown across the water have you ever been thrown across the water have you ever been thrown across the water till there's no skin left on your bones thrown across water thrown across water thrown across water like a stone And here, apparantly he blames himself and wishes trade this pain of losing the one he loves for any amount of physical pain. he's really gotten into telling the story. get me a doctor get me a doctor who will get rid of my bones get me a lover get me a lover who will leave my head alone get me a soldier get me a soldier who will fight me in this war get me an exit i need an exit i need a window or door thrown across water thrown across water thrown across water like a stone get me a lawyer get me a lawyer who will sue the world for me get me a person get me a person get me a person who isn't me cuz i'm getting tired i'm getting tired of my stupid little face cuz i don't belong here i don't belong here don't belong in this horse race thrown across water thrown across water thrown across water like a stone That's just what I think. This song is so sad but beautiful at the same time. |
