Good music, but for me it's ruined by her singing from the perspective of a girl. It was written from a man's perspective I believe. You can't say Romeo is the woman just because a woman wants to play the part... It changes the story. |

Yeah I agree that the perspective changes usually make the song worse, and thats why I like this version. (I assume this was originally written from a girl's perspective). Similarly, the band Nickel Creek did "Tomorrow is a Long Time" from the perspective of a girl and it just doesn't sound right. Changing roles changes the story... you can't just say Romeo is the woman because a woman wants to play the part. |

| ah, I think forest, rests, nest, would make sense. I'm also pretty sure it is lie down. I don't know how you could get light up out of the song... | |

| oops, I meant "our good grandfather *built a wooden (man?)" This line is really tricky to hear. Anyone have any ideas? | |

I am pretty sure the lyrics here are wrong. It shouldn't be: In the quivering forest, Where the shivering dog rests, I will do it grandfather, Wilt to wood and end. I think it should be "where the shivering dog went" and something like "our good grandfather build a wooden (man?)" I thought for sure they said "built," and I just watched them play this on letterman and sure enough you can see them form a "b" sound. It seems to me he's talking to his brother about somewhere they were together as children, so I don't think it makes sense for him to talk to his grandfather. |
