Great song and so captured the times (1978). Always thought Brothers Under the Bridges was a great follow-up because by 1982, the romanticisim of drag-strip duels on the street was dying down (high hp cars no longer coming out of Detroit, gas prices were high, economy in a slump). Never understood the technical error in this song. Always wanted to ask Bruce about it. There never was a 'Fuelie head' for a 396. Fuelie heads were available only for the small-block engines in Corvettes (starting in 1957). You'd think a 'car guy' would know that. Of course, "fuelie heads" rhymes better than "rectangular port heads". |
