To me (and i could be totally wrong! :D ) This song is about a guy talking to his friend who has just turned 21 and he's looking back on his life and trying to figure things out. "Like a brother who's afraid of what he'll see" - he almost doesnt want to look back and understand what he's been through in his life the third stanza (or whatever you call that in songs) the guy is feeling really hopeless and wondering if everyone else around him is truly that happy In the second to last one its talking about his parents expect so much and he doesnt know how to handle it. The last one is about how he's listening to his friend's problem and his friend is going to have a kid ("And I thinks its a shame that you're passing them on / But it's always the same between a father and son") and he wishes that his friend had figured out his own life before having a kid so soon. Overall i LOVE this song. Its one of my favorites and i looove stephen kellogg. :D |
