i have always said that rihanna is a talentless hack. Its embarassing that he has her on a song. But maybe he just wanted to promote her, he is her boss. |

This is a better set of lyrics, less than mistakes than usual.....but what is "vegal", its listed twice, and honestly do you think that is what he is saying? I don't think it even is a word.

"I like how the song progresses. It becomes more disorderly until it snaps. The style parallels a heroin trip. "
my thoughts exactly.
I love how he wishes he was alive a thousand years a go before heroin addiction was possible. Life could have been different. We are all children of circumstance. |

I might change this later, but so far i think its just a poetic way of saying he feels motivated. I use this song to pump me up before i go to an important event or meeting. My favorite lyric he ever wrote is "but god doesn't always have the best goddamn plans, does he?" ! |

| Wolf Parade – Grounds for Divorce Lyrics

"Spencer discussed that lyric in an interview recently. Apparently, he was with a girl who was complaining about the screeching sound buses make, and he told her to pretend they're just big singing whales floating around the city. She told him it was stupid, and I guess he was pretty embarassed about it or something, because he didn't want to elaborate on it to the interviewer. "
haha, this confirms what i was going to write. The song is about an eccentric guy with a girl always telling him his thoughts and ideas are dumb. So the grounds for divorce are his strange thoughts and eccentricities. This is obviously your typical unartistic, girly-girl who can't appreciate a good random thought. Good riddance. Maybe he dumped her anyway :) |

To be honest this song doesn't belong on the album. But as for the lyrics, they are sarcastic, or in other words he is speaking for someone else. (originally i thought he was a greedy spoiled rockstar talking about how much money he has) |

| Sunset Rubdown – The Courtesan Has Sung Lyrics

I'm not sure exactly what this song "means". But me and my roomate think in general that sunset rubdown lyrics mostly take place in historical times. In this case i really get the sense its shakespearean times and some minstrels have arrived (or actors) and are having a party. Maybe a woman has drunk herself to death, or someone killed her, but the doctors mistook her for a whore because she was most likely in costume. Back then whores and actors were both social pariahs, and i think krug is trying to comment on that too. |

This song confirms that spencer krug is a musical genius. So many levels "so now you'll wear any old thing". to me its a poetic way of saying that my ex-girlfriend will date any old asshole , after me, cause she doesn't realize the faults they all have. she's too naive.! :) |

This song, made me discover deep music. There are more meanings than meet, the eye. I think it is a song of rebellion, against corporate pop music, way before its time."moss grows flat out of rolling stone."
fuck music media. i love this site because we the listeners decide what it means. |

| Sunset Rubdown – The Men are Called Horsemen There Lyrics
| 17 years ago

This song isn't really about sex, maybe just subtly. I think the main message is "I am no horseman and you are no angel", because it says that men and women have changed and so have relationships since the time of brave cavaliers (means bachelors and horsemen interchangeably in many languages) and innocent chaste princesses (angels). He is saying that today's relationships are not black and white, there is no brave man rescuing the innocent women in peril, most of the time. There are no storybook romances anymore of the Spanish, medievel, fairy-tale sort.Kind of depressing but true.I think this is the best song on the album.I think these guys are so original because they are so very nostalgic for the ancient past, far beyond their experience.I know I am. |
