| Bedlight for Blue Eyes – Ephemeral Addictions Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| To me, the song is about a cheating boyfriend who loves the girl he's with and think she's the world, but he obviously has a drinking problem. She's given him chances before, and she just can't take being hurt another time. It's about how easy it is to hurt someone, tearing relationships apart, and getting over the person hurting you. | |
| A Thorn for Every Heart – Things Aren't So Beautiful Now (Part II) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

"Our scene begins as a telephone rings, She chokes a gasp at the awful news it brings, A phone call she's been avoiding, She knows he's reached the end." -I'd take the first stanza as the girlfriend or wife has been avoiding going to the hospital lately because she hates to see her man in the bed fading away, but she knows that this is her last chance. "Hooked up to the resporator, It breathes life into my calloused lungs, My heart beats getting fainter, You know my time has come." -He's obviously in bad shape and dying. "It's getting colder been trying to show her, That I'm not the one to be there beside her now, I'm crossing over can no one console her? Alone she'll remain, With no way to end this pain." -His life is leaving him, and it's going to leave her all alone, because he is all she has. "Now I realize the things that I, The things that I have done to her, Why you gave your love with all your heart, With all that a heart can give. Intentions that you'll never know, The reason why I had to lead astray, I gave you a lifetime of pain and remorse, Mistakes that were never yours, The wrong in my life can never be right, It flashes before my eyes." -As he's dying he realizes how much he has hurt her, even though she loved him unconditionally. He has made many mistakes that have cause problems for them, and he's reliving his horrible wrongs. "How did it come to this? His mind is working harder than ever before, A thousand thoughts in seconds, His last thoughts were for her, Of how he and he alone, Had destroyed the once vibrant spririt, That he had coveted so deeply, The last pain he ever causes the only woman, Who ever loved him." -In the moments before he actually dies, he looks back and can't believe he has allowed himself to hurt the only person to actually ever loved him. "Bright light is calling me upward, I follow and leave you below, Now you're all alone And I leave you with nobody by your side, Not to hurt you ever again, Never break your spirit for me, Now I'm all alone, Still I cherish the things that you've given to me, Bright light is calling me upward, I follow and leave you below." -He leaves his body, and realizes that he is leaving her with no-one, and how hard it will be for her. He believes that his passing is for the better because he will no longer be able to hurt her the way he did when he was alive and with her. He is thankful she shared her love with him and was by his side until now. He doesnt want her to destroy herself over his passing. Take the song whichever way you want. I see it as a story of betrayal, hurt, and broken trust, but still love overcomes everything in the end. He loves her so much that he agrees that she is better off without him. |
