GREAT song, has been stuck in my head for days now, since the first time I listened to it. I'm a hypochondriac and man did this song really make me feel better about myself. It sort of made me laugh about my situation, instead of go crazy over it and make myself even sicker. Max Vernon is SO talented, he's got the whole package: Amazing Voice, Beautiful Pianist, Empowering Lyrics, and he's also pretty damn handsome. |

My mom is in a half-way house right now and is in the beginning of her recovery from alcoholism. This song strongly hits home for me. I mean, the way Max describes the person in active addiction was my mom. All I remember her as is being drunk. However, I found this song just in time. I think once I have her listen to it it will be a huge form of support and encouragement. This song shed's such a beautiful light on recovery. |

| Now It's Overhead – A Skeleton on Display Lyrics

It's obviously a song about a sudden breakup that came as a complete shock. This song makes me cry EVERY SINGLE TIME I listen to it. However, not because of a hard breakup. It reminds me of the drifting apart of me and my best friend. She was forced to move out of my house because my dad didn't like her. Our friendship was like the relationship between mother and daughter, we were all each other had in life. "I'm nodding with your head just to agree" is the line to my dad, knowing I couldn't do anything about it.
Since she moved she started slamming heroine and speed. . .
and eventually no one knew where she was. One day she was just gone, and she is still missing to this day. . .
And "I will always miss" her. |

| The Used – The Ripper Lyrics

I think 'In Love and Death' was their most unique album yet, It had great songs and I love how they all intertwined with each other However, Their first album 'The Used' is amazong because not many bands make it with their first. The Taste of Ink is my all time favorite song by them because it's about their love of making music. . .
Anyways, 'Lies for the Liars' sucks compared to their other albums. Don't get me wrong, I still like it. . .But what made The Used such an awesome band was that they would use things that weren't instruments to make their music. . .they thought outside of the box and put a lot of heart in it. I don't see that on 'Lies for the Liars'. All I hear is voice, guitar, and drums. They say it's their most mature cd yet, but to me it sounds like everything else playing mainstream today. Many of the songs on this album actually reminded me of From First to Last and Aiden. . .The Used are blending in too much with mainstream artists =/ |

| MGMT – Time to Pretend Lyrics

This song is simply explaining the contrast between fake happiness and real happiness. But in the end, we never really know what made us happy to begin with. We spend our whole lives trying to achieve it, but this song is teaching a lesson that is hard to learn. No matter who or what we grow up with, whether or not we "achieve" our dreams, happiness can never fully be found. So "live fast and die young" if you choose to do so. We all die in the end and no matter what our religions or beliefs are, we have no clue what happens after that. We have no idea what we are doing here to begin with, so why do we need to conform to what SOCIETY wants us to do? We're fated to pretend that we know what we're doing, because we like to believe that we do. However, the bottom line is that subconsciously we have no clue what we're doing or why we're doing it. |

| MGMT – The Youth Lyrics

This song proves Andrew Vanwyngarden and Ben Goldwasser are true modern-day hippies. This song is talking about the dramatic change in culture that is happening today with the youth. Since the war on peace in the 60's and 70's, kids and teens all over America are becoming more and more nonconforming to societies standards and are learning to make their own opinions and beliefs instead of following the traditional ways of life that have been occuring for hundreds of years. They are learning to keep an open mind about everything and are less trusting of the people who make the decisions for our country. Andrew and Ben take sides with today's youth and just want peace on earth. I think this song is just saying "The youth is smarter than you think, they are no longer brainwashed by what you have hoped for them to believe about right and wrong. The rebellion is coming quick, so will you join it? Todays youth will be filling the shoes of all the leaders and this country will soon see a huge change in culture." |
