Hi Decessus, I have the answer for your question. Keep in mind the girl he's cheating with is his ex-girlfriend and they are talking the phone. They are chatting back and forth. This line, "And I, never wanna say good-bye, but girl you make it hard to be faithful" is being said directly to the girl he's cheating with. So in other words, he's telling her he doesn't want to hang up the phone but she makes it really hard for him to be faithful to his current girlfriend therefore they must say good-bye. |

My interpretation of this song is very different from all of you. In order fort all the lyrics to make sense, you have to look at the song this way. This song is about two gay lovers and the mockeries they have to endure. They're getting ugly They're a horror show [This is how people view them when they are together in public] And now we're laughing Because they'll never know That they have everything We give them all of our own And they tell us they're sick and they're all alone [They are laughing because there is nothing else they can do to make their family understand. Their families will never know that regardless of who they want to be with, they love their families deeply and are willing to give them everything, even pretending to be someone they are not for so long. ToyHearts, Great explanation of the external meaning of this song, yes very good, but I think there is a reason the song was sang in all metaphor. If you think deeper and expand your mind further, I think you'll find that the message behind all these metaphors is actually a very sad and lonely one. Everybody I know thinks I'm crazy for interpretating this song this way, but I believe this song is about a gay man singing in a female voice, because within he sees himself as a woman. I don't want to go into details of every meaning because you've said it all, but go back and re-read your interpretation with what I just said in mind. I'm not gay myself but I can only imagine the loneliness of a gay man that has not come out yet. Imagine the world not accepting you and or even attempting to try to understand you. Imagine having to pretend to be someone else your whole life and imagine love being only in your fantasies because you can't show the world who you really are. To me this song is exactly this. |

bueller84, The part that you can't figure out I think I've figured out. LOL. I believe Josie is his wife. As much as he loves the other woman, divorce is always a hard thing. He probably promised to divorce his wife, but it's easier said than done. Though he isn't in love with Josie, he still loves her as a person so he can't hurt her. This is why he can't be with the other woman. Yes, "Just 'cause you're right it don't mean I'm wrong," means they had a verbal confrontation. She probably said something like, "If you love me, you should be able to leave Josie for me"...and he probably responded by saying, "yes you're right, but just because you're right doesn't mean I'm wrong...I know I love you, I know I should leave her for you, but I can't hurt her like that...at least not right now..." The line "as you leave me, please would you close the door and don't forget what I told you" is him telling the other woman to not lose hope, to remember what he told her. bueller84, I like the way you think...keep up with interpretating songs, you're really good. |

| Here is my take on the video. Gwen is from a rich family. She was forbidden to see Daniel. I say this because Gwen was always nicely dressed while Daniel looked very raggedy. They were separated by Gwen's family because of this. Notice how they always had to sneak around and notice the sorrow in their faces. In the future, you see Daniel and his new girlfriend. Daniel is also rich now. You can tell that Daniel worked very hard to be rich because of what happened between him and Gwen. You can tell that he thought getting rich will get Gwen back...but too much time had past and Gwen seemed to have moved on...but only on the outside, inside her heart, she still and always will love Daniel. They are definitely not "cool" in their hearts, but cool on the outside. They are both filled with regrets because they broke against their will. Now as adults, they feel there is nothing they can do but be happy for each other and love one another from afar. Notice the look in their eyes, it says everything. | This song is about a man who is a bit of a play boy with a girlfriend/wife name Josie. When Josie went out of town, a girl friend of his was going through some problems. She calls him up and he invites her to come over and talk about it. He offered his shoulder for her to cry upon with intentions to use her love (he does this to a lot of his women friends so he do not have many friends left), instead of his usual routine with using them and pretending like nothing happened, he ended up falling in love with her. Therefore, not wanting to lose her love. So in conclusion, it is about a man who finds true love when least expected. | |
