"The razors and the dying roses pleadI don't leave yu alone"... I think the razors part is obviously about the threat of suicide; the dying roses, I think, has both a literal and figurative meaning... she's letting the roses die because she is completely uninterested in life, and at the same time, she's a rose that's dying, or wasting away, also because life has no meaning. "The demi-gods and hungry ghosts" Some Christians believe that the demi-gods of pegan mythology were actually demons trying to lure people from the OTG; thus, the line becomes "the demons and the hungry ghosts"... the hungry ghosts are ghosts that try to lure someone to the other side to join them... So... "the razors and the dying roses plead I don't leave you alone/the demi-gods and hungry ghosts, oh god, god knows I'm not at home" all represent the temptation to self-destruction: a disinterest in life and the whispers of destructive spirits leading the woman on to her death; the narrator recognizes these temptations and is terrified that she will be overwhelmed by them if he's not around her constantly. |

| The line "the night sky likes light (like) blue" always bugged me... it seems like a cluky nonsequiter for someone who's as great a lyracist as Jon. Anyone have an interpretation of that line that makes sense in the context of the rest of the song, I'd love to hear it. | |

I agree with furi kurisu, though I think that the song could b interpreted to go beyond just to TV to culture as a whole. Lyrics corrections: "You sell things that That WE NEED FOR free" |
