| The Postal Service – Such Great Heights Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Just want to put it out there... I realised yesterday that my boyfriend has a freckle on his top eyelid which is exactly parallel to mine (on my bottom eyelid). Nothing you'd notice until you were close enough to kiss. Immediately thought of this song. Such a great one. Very idiosyncratic. |

| Līve – Lightning Crashes Lyrics | 16 years ago |

ever since I was little, I've read the "confusion sets in" thing as like... life itself. I mean, the confusion the baby inherets from the old mother is just inherent to life itself. And if we see the song as a cycle, then the old mother received the confusion of life in the same way as the baby, and was only freed of it by death. I agree with all the other theories, I just think this kinda ties in. I don't know, it's easier to explain when you're a kid. x |

| The Beatles – Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think those people who are getting all defensive and saying the Beatles had deeper meanings to their songs etc etc and that "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" is not about an LSD trip have clearly never done LSD. Honestly, they were good. But they are not gods. Just because people suggest this song's about LSD doesn't make it any less good. I've listened to this song a million times, and every time, all I get out of it is a massive trip. I have no doubt that the song could well have been inspired by Julian's drawing. Sure, makes sense. But Lennon was a nut. There's no way he just left it with his kid's drawing. I get drugs outta this song, but the inspiration for it makes sense. |

| Eagles – Hotel California Lyrics | 17 years ago |

'andystoys', I totally agree with your idea. I was listening to this song with a friend this morning, and she said that when she was little, she always thought it was about a rehab centre, or something like that. This idea kinda ties in. I don't know if it's a mental hospital or a drug or alcohol rehab centre, but it doesn't really matter.. I personally lean more towards mental treatment. There are continuous references throughout the song to voices in your head, or voices coming from nowhere.. I spose this could also be a reference to any drug, though, as well as a mental disease. Also, the "mirrors on the ceilings, pink champagne on ice", is obvious, as andystoys as already mentioned. Yeah. The more I think about it, the better it fits. |

| Snow Patrol – Isolation Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Yeah, Snow Patrol's version of this song kinda scares me, actually. But, fairly easy to interpret, I think we've all felt what it describes at some point, no? |

| Mayday Parade – Walk on Water or Drown Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It is NOT about death. God. It's just... They left. One of them, anyway. And so, they knew they had to break up, cos distance is shit, we all know that. But then, they gave up. They came back, they fell to pieces, and they know it isn't right, but they can't help themselves. That's what I've always got out of it, anyway. But, I think that's the great thing about Mayday. There's so many ways you can interpret their lyrics. |

| Lily Allen – Guess Who Batman Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's condemning homophobia and hatred. Sillies. Which actually does relate to George Dubya, seeing as how he is a disgusting homophobic useless piece of dogshit. |

| Thirsty Merc – Someday, Someday Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
No, I think these lyrics are wrong. It's supposed to be, "Don't let that overtake the fact that before all that, you're still my girl." Meaning, the most important thing isn't making money or sorting out their lives, but the fact that they love each other. If that makes sense. That's what I've always heard it as, anyway. |

| Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It annoys me that the original Cohen lyrics never get recognised. It's only ever the first two verses.. I don't particularly love the way he sang it, but man. The lyrics are amazing. The very last verse gives me chills. Cohen was incredible. |

| Frenzal Rhomb – Johnny Ramone Was In A Fucken Good Band, But He Was A Cunt (Gabba Gabba You Suck) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Bahahaha... Ok guys, you want funny? Look at the names of all Frenzal's songs. I just laughed until I cried. Literally. God, I lovethem. |

| Snow Patrol – Run Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Oh, come on guys. You can interpret just about any song to be about drugs if you want, but this one is a bit far-fetched, don't you thinnk? It's veering into the obscure. |

| Haste the Day – Autumn Lyrics | 17 years ago |

This man's voice is orgasmic. I'm not even joking. I would marry him for his voice, even if he was horribly disfigured. I LOVE this song, and thisband. |

| Mayday Parade – Three Cheers for Five Years Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Grrr... Guys, please PLEASE stop referring to the "acoustic version" of this song as if it came second. It was written as an acoustic song before they hardened it up, hence the beauty of the song when it's acoustic. Man, I love this song with absolutely every part of me. When I feel shit, sitting at a piano and playing it never fails to make me happy. |

| Clare Bowditch and the Feeding Set – Little Self Centred Queen Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Tehe. I love these lyrics, they make me laugh. Such an innocent sounding song, and yet she's singing about having a drunken one-night stand. gotta love her. Amen, sister. |

| Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Also, something that makes me laugh: People pouring out their hearts on this site. Come on, guys. We want to hear your opinion on the song, not the life story of the amazing boy youre dating this week. Well, I know I do anyway. |

| Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I really like these lyrics, but I absolutely hate the way Bright Eyes did this song. One of my friends sang it for a function a while ago, and it was amazing. Kind of a bit over Bright Eyes just writing "you are, we did" type lyrics. They get kinda boring. |

| Jimmy Eat World – Drugs Or Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think the one thing I love most about this song is the honesty. There are no deeper meanings, it's straight up and it doesnt beat around the bush with any other bullshit. It's to the point, it's raw, and it's honest. Which, when you're writing about this topic, is really the only way to do it. |

| Mayday Parade – One Man Drinking Games Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song made me cry. Like, full on. I wasn't ok for days. =] Anyway. These two are definitely losing one another, unclear as to why, but they are both aware of it. The reference to angels and "if you go down I go down with you" kind ofmakes me think one of them's dying. But again, that's just my take on it. Either way, Mayday Parade are incredible lyricists. Amazing. I sound just like everybody else on here. Dang. |
