The line transcribed as "We are dead-ah" sounds to me more like "Miya Deva" followed more faintly by "Krishna", though I'd hesitate to offer it as a correction. It certainly makes more sense in the TM context. The phrase is more clearly audible when repeated near the end of the 8-minute version. |

George said he had stopped taking acid when he wrote this song. It was influenced more by transcendental meditation. That opening chord hits me like a searing, scintillating beam of light every time, followed by the gentle bewitching Hammond intro to the melody. Beautiful, just beautiful, and the line about taking birthday cake, but not too much is such a wise environmental idea. The dedication at the beginning is thought to be to George's friend Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane. |
