I think the Flat Earth Society in this song represents any organizations that always want to avoid change, and often how change happens by accident. These organizations hide the truth from people so they find it themselves while others live in ignorant bliss. However, people enjoy this bliss and stay. Therefore, Flat Earth Society is both literal and metaphorical. It also refers to people who follow a religion they don't actually understand while ignoring the truth of the world they are in. |

To me, this song speaks of how everyone seeks an answer to all their questions in life without thinking of their own answers, and how everytime someone does have an answer that is truely revolutionary, they are regected by people who dislike their answers despite seeking them.
The first verse alludes to Jesus and the second to Galileo. |
