| Those who are closed minded when it comes to their religious beliefs are targeted here. The myth would be that those who let go of your belief in God/Hell will act like complete narcissists. | |

If you haven't yet, watch the video. Fucking awesome! Pulp Fiction style. Definitely throwing caution to the wind. |

This song is about feeling the safety and security that comes with being loved unconditionally and appreciating that person for everything they mean to you.The last couple lines are indicitive of past relationships where the songwriter lacked the knowledge to be the person he is today that can appreciate this and keep it alive. He understands now that this journey is all encompassing and the importance of the company of loved ones....especially her. She provides additional strength to him. |

I would agree it's about suicide. But I think the key to appreciating the song is understanding the motivation behind taking one's life in this particular piece. Read the following lines: Lives opened and trashed, look MA watch me crash Why'd nothing last Soon be over and I will relent Won't even know I've left For better or for worse Won't ever find me here In this case it's about thoughts of suicide driven by divorce IMHO |

| PJ is not trying to take credit for the song and the original is nice, no doubt about it, but relax. I doubt Mark Seymour would be singing along with him if there was a concern. MS has an awesome voice but I prefer the 2 of them singing it for the best of both worlds. And for what it's worth, those of you pointing out lyric corrections need to wake up a bit - EV changed the lyrics over time while singing it around the campfire and could give a shit if it's not the original lyrics. | |

| During his solo tour when he played in Berkely CA. he mentions that while watching some 80's TV show he notices Ghostbusters actually won a grammy. Then he goes on to say "that song I just played (Guaranteed) is not as good as Ghostbusters". Priceless! Really puts into perspective just how much or how little weight should be placed on awards of any kind where head to head competition is not involved IMO. You no longer need to wonder why artists like Vedder don't hold these honors with high regard. Best song on the album. | |

| Don't really care exactly what the song is about right now actually. I just lost my 10 year old choc lab/best friend to cancer, and of all PJ's songs that reference death, this one immedietly came to mind. I didn't listen to it until over a week later (couldn't deal - I'm such a pussy) and realised that "warm breath and all it steals" and the reference to black and white (dog vision) are probably what drew me to it. He was also bleeding from several nodules on his liver so, it's like every word of the song fits. We also went to see PJ in NYC a day after he was diagnosed so the NY reference gets me too. I am struggling to let him go. | |
