I think this may be a unique break up song. He feels bad for getting so close to this girl only to discover that his heart is still restless and the fact that he can not control his feelings and find peace in their relationship. And so the chorus explains that he has come to terms with the fact that he has to ends things but he knows it will hurt her and that it isn't what she wants. The last line of the chorus captures his feelings of pain and sadness for having to end things and his desire to be there with her through her pain. The second verse relates the post-breakup confusion. Did he make the right choice? Should he "remake" the relationship with the girl or leave it "discarded" and move on? He goes on to say that he will simply trust God to bring clarity to his decision ("I know someone who knows me more than I"). God, what a beautiful song. |

| Seems to me that the guy used to be in a relationship with this girl and for whatever reason he had to go away ("And I've been away for far too long it seems") but when he comes back to possibly pick things up where they left off he discovers that she's been sleeping around and picked up a crew of friends who aren't the best... ("And this new group of friends is making me, ready again to leave"). Then he basically starts asking her loaded questions about how she really feels about how she is behaving ("And will you still be feeling alright In the morning with the sun creeping through the blinds? And will you say it was a good time? And you will you tell him anything?"), followed by a warning that the guy just wants sex from her and that she is just screwing herself. | |
