I do think that at least his mother died. As he feels his death calling to him as "he feels the pull beneath his feet" he hears "her" calling him from the other side. Also the child is left weeping alone. I think that the bridges do mean the many challenges one must face in life. It could be suicide, but I think that its just him acknowledging that his time has come, and he is ready to surrender himself to the waves/death. |

Man such a great song. I agree with the analysis given above about him giving up on the materialistic ways of society and taking up a more individualistic path. I was wondering if anyone could give any insight on the acoustic version they do on Bang, Bang. In the second chorus they switch the lyrics around to say "I'm in the open killing society" "I'm in the kitchen boiling all the leaves" I agreed with people before about this image displaying his freedom and innocence (in its escape from society and materialism as it gets back to nature). But I don't really know about him boiling the leaves. It kindof leaves a depressing outlook on society. Maybe that society wont allow him to separate? |
