i totally agree with hippieeit and also agree that it is an EPIC song. modern day hippies is what i thought of too. kind of like lavender diamond except with a completely different sound. i hope they're right about the youth starting to change. are you starting to change? well, are you? together together...

i disagree, i don't think it's cynical at all. look at the pictures that come with the album. i think it is a sincere call to change / be together / other vague hippie sentiments. but even though it is vague, i believe it is from the heart. but yeah i'm a hippie too. hi RF.

Remembering the one-five-six: A local deactivated National Guard unit steeped in history

KINGSTON - They were decorated with military honors 13 times by Gen. George Washington. They were in Appomattox, Va., when Gen. Robert E. Lee surrendered to Gen. Ulysses S. Grant, heralding the end of the Civil War. In World War II, they fired over 6,000 rounds of ammunition during a three-day battle with the Germans that began on New Year's Eve 1944. And in the days that followed Sept. 11, 2001, they stood guard over what had become the nation's biggest crime scene.

They are the men and women of the First Battalion, 156th Field Artillery Unit of the New York Army National Guard, a historic unit that was recently deactivated as part of the military's realignment of the National Guard.

On Sept. 10, the 156th was deactivated, and its colors retired in a grand ceremony that drew many former members of the unit, called the "one-five-six" by its members, from as far back as World War II.

maybe this has something to do with the fire in the song?
